Sources: Billick to interview with Bills

Mike Holmgren, already hired in Cleveland, and Mike Shanahan, expected to be hired in Washington, may not be the only former Super Bowl-winning coaches to re-enter the NFL this year.

Brian Billick, who guided the Baltimore Ravens to the title in the 2000 season, is expected to interview for the Buffalo Bills job next week, according to three sources. Billick, who is working as an NFL analyst for Fox Sports, couched his answer when asked about the Bills vacancy Saturday.

"I have not had any contact with the Bills so far," Billick said.

The Bills were contacted by Yahoo! Sports but did not respond prior to publication.

The Bills are expected to let interim coach Perry Fewell go after the season. Fewell replaced Dick Jauron earlier this season and was the defensive coordinator for the Bills under Jauron from 2006 until this season.

This week, the Bills hired 70-year-old Buddy Nix to be the general manager of the team and – with the hopes of winning sooner rather than rebuilding – appear to be leaning toward hiring someone with previous head-coaching experience. The team has already approached Shanahan, Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher about the job, but has been rebuffed so far.

Billick indicated earlier that he would like to return to coaching under the right circumstance. Beyond Billick, the Bills are also expected to interview New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera. Nix has ties to both Schottenheimer and Rivera from his time working in personnel with the Chargers.
