With Sunday's game between the New York Giants and New England Patriots approaching, Scripps Howard released the results of its annual Super Bowl Celebrity Pool.
Many of the entrants stayed true to their hometown teams. (John McEnroe and Rudy Giuliani sided with the Giants, while John Kerry went for New England.) Some gave personal reasons for their picks. (Arnold Schwarzenegger said he's picking New England because Tom Brady is his neighbor. Dale Earnhardt Jr. couldn't get over his Washington Redskins beating New York twice this season, so he went with New England.) And others, like Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady on "The Brady Bunch," went with family ties.
A sampling of Scripps Howard picks, as well as some others that have made news recently, are below:

What a surprise that Obama won't make the call. He's a fence riding weasel on EVERTYTHING!
i like both teams. to bad there could not be two winners but the way it is there is only one champ.i feel new england will win 27-21.
Let's go Patriots y'all can do it!
Who outside of NY & NE really cares?
A team that beats Belichek & Brady 2x in the same year, DON'T see it.... GO PATS!!
If we look at playoff opponents so far, it would be easy to pick the NY Giants in this game. They have already beaten 2 very good defenses in Atlanta and San Francisco(Which could have easily gone the other way.) New England trashed the weakest team in the postseason and barely squeaked by the Ravens at home. The Giants made easy work of the best teams in the NFL(With the NFL's best QB) on the road in Green Bay.
In some ways, the Giants are a tougher defensive matchup for New England than Baltimore was. And Eli Manning has been Tom Brady's equal this post season. So, based on the matchups Offensively and Defensively - On paper, The Giants look better on BOTH sides of the ball. But then of course, games aren't played on paper. Bill Belichik will have a gameplan that will show the Giants a lot of different looks both offensively and defensively. And I believe that it will benefit them earlier in the game, perhaps throwing off Manning's timing in the 1st quarter or half.
Tom Brady and the Patriots as well as Tom Coughlan and the Giants will be very well prepared for whatever each team throws at them. With Gronk at perhaps 80% at best, I don't think he has the dominant game he had the 1st time the 2 teams met. But if hs line can give him the extra half second he needs, he will likely hit his targets. Brady seems to have even a stronger focus than ever.
I don't see this game as being as low scoring as everyone else is predicting. I also think it will comedown to a last possession. I think it will be that close. I honestly think that this will be Eli's most shining moment. Tom Brady is going to get banged up by the Giants passrush. But he will find a way to keep the Pats in it until the bitter end. There are a lot of key matchups in this game.
But I believe that Eli will find a way to figure out the Pats defense in the 2nd half and will be the dominant player and this game's MVP. If Brady has a good day the Giants win 34-31. If he doesn't, New York will win in a rout. But the Giants will prevail either way because they are better on BOTH sides of the ball.
who the heck is Vanilla Ice - baby? "Dope melody maker"...I don't think so! Just A Dope.
If Vanilla Ice says Pats then.....Giants will win...
O'Reilly Fox news? everyone knows that FOX lies about everything
3-1 Redsox.
O'Reilly? NY? I just lost ALL respect for the dude. I WANT to know who Danica Patrick picks?
Obama was a typicle politition. I feel better now. Vanilla Ice picked New England. If not for Cruz I might have taken New England and be extremely worried now because I agreed with Vanilla Ice. Luckily, I chose Eli, Victor Cruz and the Giants.
I'm going Pats myself but so is a comedian. That's ominous. This is probably the point where Bill Bellicheat's off-the-field secret activities pay off.
My prediction the Pats and Pain. Lots of it..
Sorry-I thought you said "celebrities". Not washed up, and never were, hacks.
I want to say Giants, but Bill Belicheck wins games for a reason other than Tom Brady. Belicheck has only lost twice to the same team in the same season twice. You can't outsmart him twice. Look at Denver this year: Tebow and Broncos ran all over the Pats and were in that game until someone greased the ball. Denver had a lead and was taking it to them. Belicheck made adjustments and stopped the running game. It was even worse in that second game.
Last time the Pats thought they won before stepping on the field. They won't feel that wasy this time.
I don't think revenge is going to be a factor.
Giants ftw...
To all you Patriots Haters
5 Super Bowls in 10 years
Deal with it you Idiots
Its gonna be ugly, Brady is out for revenge, trust me, Eli got lucky the first time. Pats win by 30.
