Jose Canseco, because things are going so well for him these days, has been looking for someone to go toe-to-toe with him in a celebrity (and I use that term very, very loosely) boxing match. He had recently been offering $5,000 to get someone to accept the challenge, and for a while, everyone, as they usually do, completely ignored Jose Canseco.

But a brave hero has finally stepped up so that this stupid fight may finally take place. And that hero is former Philadelphia Eagles return man Vai Sikahema. What a relief that must be for the millions of you who sit around all day and wistfully think, "Man, when is Jose Canseco going to fight Vai Sikahema?!"

Canseco claims that he's earned black belts in Kung fu, Taekwondo, and Muay Thai. I'd love to doubt him (and I sort of do), but the man does have a certain track record for telling the truth. He's also going to have a considerable height and weight advantage over Sikahema.

As for Sikahema's qualifcations, he grew up wanting to be a professional boxer, and he fought in a National Golden Gloves Championship that would eventually be won by a fellow named Sugar Ray Leonard. That explains the goal-post punching celebration you see above (they do look like quality punches).

More recently, he's been staying in shape by anchoring at NBC-10 in Philadelphia and going shopping with Johnny Weir. I hear that's Floyd Mayweather's secret, too.

The fight is scheduled for July 12th in Atlantic City. I will consider watching it if the promoters call me and offer me $49.95 to do so.

First off, this writer knows very little about Vai Sikahema well maybe what he knows by googling his bio in about five minutes. Vai is a class act, and has always been. This is not about celebrity hype for him, he's loved by the entire city of Philly and always will be. The $5,000 that Vai will get for fighting in this boxing match he is donating to the widow of a recent Philly Officer killed in the line of duty, and is seeking to promote awareness about the Philly Police and the fallen officers' family. Not to mention that any class act when finally sick of someone in the news doesn't just talk or WRITE trash and seem like they are above other people. They take it upon themselves to fix the problem need it be a person (Canseco) or a situation (Philly Police). Personally, I would watch this fight just to see Vai make a complete joke out of Canseco (he doesn't have to do much he's pretty much there). After reading this poorly and ego driven article and I mean what's journalism today without making everyone around you look stupid, terrible, and yourself great and too good for anything right? I'd love to see Vai box this articles writer.

Can't agree more Steve R...Yahoo! annoys me a lot with these articles, always putting in a spin on it instead of simply reporting the story...anyone who knows anything about Vai knows what a class act he is, which is incredible when considering he is in the media that is filled to the brim with people like MJD. I think Vai will knock out Canseco too.

I lost all repect for Canseco many years ago when he wanted to try pitching and threw his arm out in the process. What an idiot! With any luck - he'll get the crap beat out of him - and come to his sences. With a little more luck - that'll be the last we hear of him!
