Via Pro Football Talk, who probably knew about this the second he put his key in the ignition, San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been arrested on suspicion of DUI. The following report comes from 10News.com:

According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, Jackson was arrested by the California Highway Patrol early Tuesday morning. CHP Officer Ray Scheidnes said Jackson failed sobriety tests shortly after 2 a.m. on state Route 52, west of Interstate 805. He said he didn't know Jackson's blood alcohol level.

The Sheriff's Department said Jackson was booked at 4 a.m., and posted bail and was released at 5:50 a.m.

Excellent work, genius. Your team's won five straight games, you just beat the red-hot Colts, and you're about to head into Pittsburgh to take on an extremely tough team that you played very close in the regular season ... and you decide that right now is the best time to fail a battery of field sobriety tests. Awesome.

As a public service to Vincent Jackson, I present this link. Print it out. Put it in your wallet. Whatever it takes, man. I don't know what you're going to do. Take one of those trains you seem to like so damn much.

Driving drunk during the playoffs ... what the hell is the matter with you?

At the moment, Jackson's status for the weekend is up in the air, though my guess would be that he would play. He's not going to miss out on a trip to Pittsburgh to hang out with his kindred spirit, Steely McBeam.

If he doesn't play, though, it's a bit of a blow to the Chargers. True, Jackson racked up 0 catches for 0 yards against the Colts and they survived. But if he were out of the line-up completely, it would make things a lot easier on the Steelers secondary. Malcom Floyd hasn't played in weeks because of a collapsed lung, and there's a bit of a drop-off to either Buster Davis or Legudu Naanee.

Isn't Buster Davis on IR? So that leaves it to Legudu and Osgood.
    Great job Jackson... great.

Well, you forgot to mention that VJ was already on probation for a prior DUI. I doubt Norv would reprimand him but this is the type of thing that the commissioner would normally step in on.

They still have Gates and Chambers. Heck, start Sproles in the backfield, and split the groin-less LT out to the right as a decoy. Obviously you just need someone distracting the corners long enough so you can open a little (and I mean little) hole for Sproles to fit through.

Anyone remember Eugene Robinson? Stanley Wilson? Barratt Robbins? There's a precedence for this kind of thing, and it could be worse.
Still, Vincent, you're an idiot. If you simply cannot wait until after the playoffs to have a drink, call a cab. You can afford it.

I hope the Steelers keep it close against that 9-8 team from the worst division in the AFC this season!
OMG they lost at Pittsburgh by one point! They beat the Pats by 20! They just knocked the MVP and the Colts!
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT(sorry, "T" key got stuck)The Steelers are NOT KC! They are from Pennsylvania! Which is very far from Kansas City! Which is in Missouri!
You aren't running or throwing against Pittsburgh's defense. Give the heavily-concussed Big Ben any time and he'll throw ill-advised passes in the swirling wind and it's a blowout win!

Learn How to write Bill F. Sttelers= Steelers and Chagers= Chargers. You dont know anything about football......its sad!!!!!!! Big Ben is terrible; three seconds?!?! hes going to need three minutes to complete a pass. The Chargers are going to kill the Steelers in there own house. Just watch our 31st ranked defense tear apart the Steelers offense

bill f is delusional... you do realize the "31st ranked" san diego d held your vaunted offensive attack to no offensive touchdowns right? some people shouldn't have computers with access to the internet. go home corky.

good job bill f at looking like a mental patient with access to a computer. if you want to bring up games of the past, steelers had their arses handed to them by the colts when they were on fire. and who put out that fire? thats right, the chargers. and by the way, the chargers finished with the 31st ranked pass d. i really don't care if big ben has another 300 yards, as long as he doesnt have any td's again. yards don't matter. whats the point of having 400 yards of offense if you aren't getting td's? i'll take 200 yards of offense and 2-3 td's and let pitt have their 400 yards of offense with 0 td's. 17-12 chargers.

    Hey,
Bill F, you base your guess on what exactly. When the Steelers had this "lousy" team at home 2 months agao, they barely managed an 11-10 win, and only managed 3 Fgs against that "31st ranked" defense.
I guess you're right. Pit, isn;t KC. Afterall KC was abale to actually score on the Chargers, something the Steelers have not really demonstrated. Now have they??

Man you can tell the Steeler fans are scared of the Bolts coming to town. i mean we have beat them twice "WHEN IT MATTERS THE MOST" at there house in the playoffs! NOW IT WILL BE 3-0
I still remember the 1994 game. All you steeler fans remember that game don't ya. Well this team is so much better then that 1994 squad so I hope that ugly towel can soak up all the tears that will be pouring out because The bolts are back, oh by the way, by the time the steelers linebackers see sproles he will have just ran by them for a first down or a touchdown Chargers win 31 Steelers 21 So go ahead steelers fan cry me a river. Go Bolts.

It's serious because DUI's are serious matters. I lost a friend to a drunk driver. But he'll play, no doubt about that. Hopefully his blood alcohol levels will be lower than the temperatures in Pitt Sunday.

Love the Chargers! My concern is that if they allow Jackson to play this weekend what kind of message is that sending my teens who play ball as well. If my kids make a huge mistake like that, they need to know that there are consequences for their actions, not only for themselves, but their teammates as well.

Sharon, it's your responsibility to teach your kids not to drink and drive. It's not Vincent Jackson's. He's irresponsible, no doubt. I got a DUI too when I was younger, very stupid and dangerous and I learned my lesson. But I wasn't suspended from my job. He has to face his teammates and apologize and make it right. How, I don't know.
This really disappoints me, he's one of my favorite players. No matter, we'll still handle the Steelers just like we did the Colts.

Don't keep him out of the game, hit him where it hurts (in the wallet) when hes provin guilty, Anyway I thought in this country your innocent until provin guilty. He'll have his day in court. What a stupid move though. I know if I had that opportunity I would be trying to improve myself every day. Goooooo Bolts

I expect them to let Jackson play but I would love them to bench him. I'm a big time Charger fan and am loving their comeback behind a reborn Norv Turner... But having someone make this big of a bone head move and play is embarrassing. Thanks Vinny Jack, you've taken a big chunk of wind out of my sails.
