Shutdown Corner - NFL

A few weeks back, we implored DeSean Jackson(notes) and all other NFL players to cease and desist from doing The Dougie as a touchdown celebration. It's been done. Our advice was for NFL players to break free from the shackles of conformity and bring back a glorious dance trend from the past, like the Carlton Dance.

Ask and ye shall receive.

After scoring his first NFL touchdown during Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions safety Alphonso Smith(notes) did a tribute to his namesake, Alfonso Ribeiro (the actor who played Carlton), in the end zone. No Tom Jones was playing, but you couldn't tell by looking at Smith's dance moves.

I knew I could count on a fellow Wake Forest alum to bring it back Fresh Prince-style.
