Tony Gonzalez and his wife get naked for PETA

The Atlanta Falcons were once home to maybe the least animal-friendly player in NFL history, and now they might be home to the most animal-friendly player in NFL history. Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez and his wife October are appearing nude in an anti-fur ad for PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Nope. Definitely no fur there. Tony, a committed vegan, definitely believes in the cause.

"We should be protecting animals, not sacrificing their lives for the sake of fashion or luxury," says Tony Gonzalez(notes). "October and I have changed many of our habits in light of the inhumane treatment of animals that occurs not only in the fur industry but also on factory farms."

If you'd like to join Tony in his anti-fur campaign, you can yourself over to the PETA website and sign a pledge to be fur-free. I'm considering it, but I'm waiting for a smuttier series of photos. I think that might really awaken me to the cause.

    It's interesting that Tony Gonzalez would pose for a PETA 'I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur' ad when he plays a game that uses a leather ball called a pigskin. But who really cares. Miss October is smokin!!

    Didn't Nia Long who posed in the same fashion and Sugar Shane Moseley make the exact same statements prepared by PETA last month? these ads that PETA is doing is an attempt to speak to minority communities. the blunt object with Micheal Vick didn't work so they're trying a kinder, gentler approach. Let me give it to them. Like many minorities,black and Latin, as soon as I could afford it, I bought my wife a fur. They know that it's still a status symbol in minority communities and that if you look on the Red Carpet or elsewhere the people who wear fur the most are blacks and Latins. Please let them know this is a waste of time. We're not going to stop wearing fur.
    They ambushed Beyonce because her fashion had fur on them. They tried P. Diddy but you know that was going to get ugly so they backed off. The war with these people culminated with Vick. the backlash, from blacks,was so bad that they didn't protest(NAACP was going to counter protest). this won't work either. I hope that Tony was paid well.

    @Tim - a lot of the PETA idiots are hypocrites but it doesn't matter so long as they have the financial backing to cover it up. It is the same organization that got up over a Hawaiian baseball player for eating his favorite food - Spam.

    I'm sure Tony and his wife have "made a lot of lifestyle changes" to prevent harm to animals. My guess is they live in a gated community in a giant house, probably drive cars (expensive cars) around and generally live the life of modern Americans. Simply participating in this society is to tacitly accept that you harm the earth, habitats, and animal life that call those places home.
    I personally love eating animals... the fear tastes delicious. I do find ads like this more than a bit hypocritical.

    Gary, I would be willing to bet you have never even spoken to a woman as hot as Gonzo's wife. Call him what you will, but he's going to the hall of fame with a beautiful woman by his side. I'm sure he'll lose lots of sleep due to your loss of respect for him.
