We're back with another weekly podcast featuring our favorite X's-and-O's analyst — Greg Cosell, the longtime NFL Films maven, who's also the executive producer of ESPN's "NFL Matchup." As always, we go through this week's upcoming games with a scout's eye and Greg in control of the All-22 tape.
Here are the matchups we're discussing in order this week:
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts
Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots
Arizona Cardinals at Cincinnati Bengals
Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills
St. Louis Rams at Pittsburgh Steelers
New York Giants at New York Jets
Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
San Diego Chargers at Detroit Lions
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
Note that through the rest of the regular season, we'll be focusing much more intently on the potential playoff teams, so games like Vikings-Redskins won't get as much play. Discussions this week included: What is the value of a bridge quarterback, and how are teams like the Dolphins, 49ers and Seahawks weighing temporary fixes at the position with the need to win long-term? Why has the Raiders' defense fallen apart in the last three weeks, and who's responsible? Do the Bengals have the best player in the 2011 draft, or are the Panthers enjoying that honor? Which Broncos player needs a lot more recognition? Why was the Steelers' defense curiously silent against the 49ers, and just how much noise can be made by these two 49ers defensive linemen? Are the Packers in more trouble than that one loss suggests, and what does that loss say about Kansas City's defense?
It's always a must-listen when Greg Cosell talks football, so check it out!
