Shutdown Corner - NFL

Tony Romo got a little fumbly in the first half against the Cardinals, and after one particular fumble, Andre Gurode got caught bit flat-footed in pursuit of the loose ball.

I don't know if he didn't see it, or he didn't feel like getting his hands dirty, or he just thought it was a random, brown-in-color, oblong shaped non-football object rolling along the carpet ... but Gurode just stood there for a second while a Cardinal pounced on the ball.

Back on the sidelines, Owens tore into him like a little boy. Gurode just stood there and took it, and appeared to have nothing to say in his own defense.

To me, any scenario other than Gurode not seeing the ball seems pretty unlikely. Any NFL player knows he's getting cut if he just stands there and watches a loose ball. At the very least, he's getting beaten in the shower after the game. I just find it so hard to believe that anyone would knowingly stand there like a slack-jawed yokel and let someone else grab a fumble. It just doesn't happen.

I'm looking forward to the postgame explanations. And to those of you who believe this is something that's being blown out of proportion just because it's Terrell Owens involved ... yeah, I'd say that's about right.

I didn't see the play, but no one plays harder than TO. He may have a Brain to Mouth filter issue, but if they're an INT he runs the guy down, if there is a play downfield, he's making blocks. I don't even like the cowboys, but i watch em' everyweek.

I been with the cowboys since Sept. 1961. This team is playing , like they play at the end of season 2007!!! All those high paid players, and can't win against a losing team. Coach needs to evaulate the whole team!!! This years, I will not back the cowboys!! They SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! Incuding the owner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

another great day in the NFL when the highest paid bunh of bums in NFL history lose to the Cardinals. I agree with #7, the coach should be evaluated first, anyone who is kin to bum, well that says it all. Just a reminder to you cowboy fans you havent won a playoff game since 96, your coach and quarterback have never won a playoff game, and now you are the 3rd best team in your division, you are the NFLs version of the cubs, high paid under acheivers.

I have been a loyal cowboy's fan since the early 70's,but i think it is time to get rid of Romo and try out the second string quarterback. He can't do ant worse than Romo. Romo's head is somewhere, but it's not football.

The was just another non story.
The real story is how yet again the talent underperforms in games it should dominate, or at least win.
I hope Mc Briar is OK...

There still seems to be a bunch of "poo poo" mixed up with the diamonds that is the Dallas Cowboys. The defensive secondary is passionless...even with a healthy Williams and Newman, the play calling stinks, Romo is a mess, and our coach is not hard enough on his players. Remember Jimmy Johnson; half of this team would be cut if they made as many mental errors as we have had in the past couple of weeks. We are the best team out there, bar none! We just don't show it cuz our heads are somewhere else. I can't take another week like this one.

Wow, wonderful grammer. Can someone please get me a translator for #9. BTW after this loss the Cowboys are only 4-2. They still have a record that is either tied or better then every team in the NFC, except the Gaints, morons. You guys are talking like they are the f'in Bengals lmao. Also the Cardinals weren't a losing team; they were 3-2 going into today's game in which they had blowout wins against both miami and buffalo (who was 4-0 at the time).

Hang in there all is not lost, last time I checked the season does not end after 6 games. They will right the ship. No worries. I really have a problem with the refs, how did they miss the head hunting personal foul on the Cardinals when they hit Romo in the helmet. Last week the Ravens got called for a much less incidental contact to Kerry Collin's helmet by T. Suggs. Where is the across the board calls???
Leave T.O. alone, he is a leader and was trying to rally the troops.

I believe Romo lost the games for the cowboys, Mc Briar should have been a little more back in the end zone to punt.
T.O. needs to get the ball more. Romo wear your hat the right way.

The 'Boys are 1-2 the last three games. Romo tied a record for most fumbles by a QB for 9 games. The last two years it was games such as this one as well as mistakes such as these that killed us. We need to be playing with more passion and pride; plus we should never worry about the other teams only how well or poorly we are playing........the mark of a true champion!

Post 13, I would use your spell check if your really concerned how others spell. Cowboys offensive line held every play, Romo fumbled in the 1st quarter, appears referees are in cowgirls pocket. It sux, and then to have to listen to aikman cry about how the cowboys arent getting the calls. pleaseeeeeeee

Cowboys need to do something about the horrible pass blocking they are getting. Romo is running for his life about every drop back.

Romo definitely lost the game for the Cowboys. His ball management/handling is atrocious and embarrassing. His lack of focus is clear. He needs to break up with Jessica.

Hey, I'm all for any of the players getting on to eachother for sloppy playing....these are MEN, not little boys, they should take it like MEN and do their job! TO is their most outspoken cheerleader and leader, I'm glad he did say something beside he wasn't the only one...Tony did likewise to his O line! Why can't everyone leave Terrell alone...let him be the player he is. By the way, give Terrell credit for making that block while Barber ran his heart out....wow, awesome touchdown and block!

in no way is Jessica at fault for Tony's sloppy handling of the ball....Tony is definatly going thru some issues - "himself"....he is as good as he going to be for now......let him mature....he either has it in him or he doesn't....time will tell.

There is no way we(cowboys) can call ourselfs contenders playing like this. I'm a HUGE fan, but...never bought into ROMO. He my be good at times but never when it really counts. I take nothing away from ARIZ. they played very hard and did what it took to get the "W" and we didn't take full advantage of the chances we had. We have all the pieces but can't seem to put it together. I know we have some injuries but so does everyone else. The special teams looks like crap and have for a couple of seasons. The secondary has shown no inprovement or the ability to shutdown an air attack when necessary, it's just kool to throw on us whenever. Adam "crapman" Jones has made no impact at all...not as a DB or KR.

Romo showed no emotion after the field goal made by the kicker going into over time.Is it just me ,or does this guy not get it.The game is played with passion and if it were any other quater back in the NFL they would have would at least congratulated him or at least show some type of emotion.Amazing.I hate to say and I have been a Cowboy fan for years either Coach is not doing his job or Romo just believes all the writing about himself.Win something first !

You sofa-huggin coaches obviously either don't know much about football, or haven't played it much, or at all! When you're getting beat up, hit in the face, smashed from the back, and tossed around like Romo has lately, you CAN'T play well. Any quarterback will tell you that, be it pro, college, or high school. So keep sitting on your sofa with your beer and chips, spewing nonsense and babble.

Yes, it's painfully obvious you living room coaches haven't played the game, other than with your joystick. If you have, then you've forgotten how it really is. Also, Romo didn't show any emotion after Folk made the last second field goal because he KNEW the game wasn't over. He KNEW he had another job to do. A person doesn't always have to scream and yell and laugh at everything. Why celebrate when there's still a job to do?

well, if we were pros we for for sure as hell would not be on this freakin web site.We are just giving our honest opinions. You are right as far as not being a coach but huggin the the sofa. How about a lady ,that sounds much better.Romo is good do not take me wrong. Cowboy fans are lucky to have him .It could be alot worse and we could be 0-6.
Either the o-line is overrated or Arizona has a real good d-line ,because they did not look they did at the start of the season.I know we are missing one of our best linemen .But cm-on..We could not run the ball and Barbers long td looked like a broken play on defense.

Romo does it to us again. He puts up 300+ yards but turns the ball over in the big game. The Comboys are never going to go anywhere until Romo "Mans up". We need him to be a leader and make sart plays!!!!!
