Recently, the WWE had a big Singapore Cane match, which is not like a normal match. It's a special match where oiled-up shirtless men run around and hitting each other with sticks. It's particularly intense.

Shawne Merriman happened to be at ringside for the pier-sixer (©Gorilla Monsoon). Don't be fooled by the name. The match was in San Diego, as Singapore cane matches need not take place in Singapore. Watch as one of the mean shirtless people ends up accidentally hitting Merriman with a stick. Skip ahead to around the 3:15 mark, if you're so inclined.

Ooooh. LIGHTS OUT, BABY.

Can you imagine that? Of all the people sitting at ringside, it's the famous linebacker who some fellow accidentally hits with his stick. What terrible luck for Shawne Merriman! But really, it was good luck for the fans who are looking to get a little more out of their entertainment dollar. It wouldn't have been nearly as entertaining if the mean guy accidentally hit one of the anonymous people sitting near Merriman. I think it's great when things just happen to work out that way for the WWE.

Anyway, Merriman eventually got his revenge for getting hit with the stick, as one of the nice shirtless men (maybe he's someone Shawne Merriman goes to the gym with) handed him a stick so he could hit the mean shirtless man.
