Shutdown Corner - NFL

Right before kickoff on Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that blossoming young receiver Mike Sims-Walker(notes) had been deactivated for the game against the Seahawks. At the time, no one knew why.

Now, we do, thanks to Michael C. Wright of the Florida Times-Union:

Sims-Walker missed bed check Friday night due to a visit with a female friend that went a little long, according to an NFL source, who described the situation by saying, "undefeated and untied."

HEY-O!

If I were Sims-Walker, I'd argue that I didn't miss bed check ... it's just that the team checked the wrong bed. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered, though. Perhaps head coach Jack Del Rio believes, like Mick, that women weaken legs.

The Jaguars went on to get clubbed by the Seahawks, 41-0. Of course, the presence of Sims-Walker wouldn't have made a 41-point difference, but you can't tell me that the Jags couldn't have used someone who knew how to score.

Gracias, Second-String Fullback.

I like you MJD. I do not know why people give you crap all the time. This was a decent story I think the Jags are a mess and just liquidate that franchise and have everyone else become signed by someone in free agency.

HP. A Raider fan and a Bronco fan actually agree on something. MJD's hat is ridiculous. I give him props for not caving in and exchanging his beret for a cap. Lord knows he looks like Dr Evil without some type of head coverage so the beret is one step up from him going commando but still, a cap is where it is at.

We give MJD crap because he sucks. I've seen comments structured better than MJD's blogs. The issue is that we read Yahoo! Sports and this is mostly what we get: crap. Thank God for Michael Silver.
