Report: Sam Bradford turning pro, too

NationalFootballPost.com is reporting that Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford is also planning to enter the 2009 NFL Draft. Along with that Matt Stafford news from oh, about 10 minutes ago, this makes it a pretty good day for NFL teams looking for a quarterback in the 2009 Draft.

We quoted Todd McShay about Stafford, so let's do the same with Bradford. He currently projects the Detroit Lions, with the first pick overall, to take Bradford.

The Lions could have a tough choice here between Bradford and Georgia's Matthew Stafford. Bradford could use another year of experience and improved strength. There will also be concerns regarding his transition to the NFL from a shotgun-heavy offense at Oklahoma, where he is afforded the luxury of a first-class supporting cast. On the positive side, Bradford excels in the areas most critical to being a successful quarterback in the NFL: mental makeup, intangibles and accuracy.

Before the draft is over, you'll hear Bradford compared to Tom Brady at leats a half-dozen times.

So I'd call it a pretty good day for draft lovers. If it turns out that the Lions want a quarterback with the first overall pick, we could even get a full-fledged Leaf/Manning or Bledsoe/Mirer type of battle going.

the bail out is only a quick fix, once that money injected into business fizzles away, things could be worse than it was cos thats an extra loss in effect. corporate business is a very cut throat copious profit kinda world. there are too many hands trying to put their fingers in the cookie jar and they all collaborate to take while bringing down the corporation. of course if corporations put business ethics on the top of their list and have to CEO really mean it (a theory which will never happen because of the greedy nature) then things would get better but that aint going to happen as long as there is white on white G5 hater get lost.

Joey Harrington, Charles Rogers, Mike Williams...ummmm, stick to building an offensive line and finding an efficient quarterback that doesn't make mistakes. I still think you can grab Tebow later in the draft who will come out of the combine with huge, underrated marks.

You have to go O-line. QBs can be taken later on, or even next year. Pass on Tebow too. Look for an underrated passing QB who has the ability to scramble away from pressure.

Why would a QB leave if they know they're likely to wind up in Detroit? It's one thing to have to go, but voluntarily?

O line definitely. theyve got a very good back in Smith and Orlovsky has shown that he can protect the ball and put drives together if given the time to even get a glimpse downfield. No one expects him to be the Pennington of next year. Just someone to keep the seat warm for next years draft. But Stafford or Bradford cant even save this franchise if they are looking up at the dome of Ford Field every other freakin play.....

I hate to say this, but trade down of few spots and take a stud tackle like Oher or Smith. Use the trade to get an additional second round pick or worst third, and draft defense for the rest of the draft. But who knows, they will probably get a QB who ends up blowing D@CK!

They need to go O-line or D-line. Orvlosky isn't spectacular or anything, but he's solid and we don't need a David Carr or Joey Harrington part 2. This draft will show us fans how the new regime is going to fare. if they pick Defense or o-line, then they may have learned and there's some hope. if we go QB, then what was the point of firing Millen? another decade of failure until Bill Sr. sells the team or (more likely) dies.

In case you have not noticed, the Heisman Trophy winner is always a bust in the NFL. The best QB coming out this year will be Brian Johnson from Utah. I just hope the poor guy skips Det-loser-troit and heads to Minnesota, who desperately needs a QB. AP plus BJ will equal a Super Bowl victory!

the lions MUST do EVERYTHING they can to trade out of the top spot, but under NO circumstances should they draft a qb in the first round. if they can't trade out of the top spot, they need to grab either an ot, lb, or de, period. i am gonna be PISSED if they draft a qb with that first pick. we NEED to see what we have with stanton and the others with a FULL offseason and training camp under their belts before we even THINK about drafting a qb.

Did you actually say that Brian Johnson will be the best QB in this class. DO you live in Utah or are you a biased fan because he is one of the most inaccurate passers in college football. Utah is a good team led by an underrated Offensive and Defensive Line, the skill position players are average at best. Bradford will be a good pro QB, not a great one, but Johnson might get converted to wide receiver which is the news out of several NFL camps. If Johnson wants to get drafted he better get used to the slot receiver position. Worked for Randle El!!! I like Bradford, but he's not even the best player from his team in this draft-that privilege belongs to Guard Duke Robinson. He is NFL ready NOW!!! Besy QB in this draft will be Bradford, but he won't be the next tom Brady. I think you're looking at the next Boomer Esiason-Accurate, tough, but plagued with being on teams that wont be able to protect him.

First pick...OT from Alabama. Second, third, fourth and remaining picks in draft on DEFENSE. Rookie QB with current O-Line = David Carr, Part 2.

If Bradford leaves next year or this year, he will still be in Detroits mind probably because they'll be #1 picking next year too! lol. Bradford is alright, but i dont think he'll be that great of a QB. A whole bunch of oklahoma's players/receivers are way more athletic than defenses and get open easily, that isnt the case in the NFL.

I wonder how many of you poor guys are actually poor detroit fans. I am one. I hope they trade down and stack up some line and defensive players. Tebow isnt gonna do anything in the NFL, unless he moves to fullback. Not sold on the Smith kid either, bring Barry back!!!!

I am sad for both of those kids. The Lions are going to ruin another college players dreams by shoving them into a horrible system with absolutely no supporting cast. It's like tossing a snowball into hell. I think that the lions should have to play college teams next year and win a few games there before they try thier hand in the NFL.

Just build up your offensive and defensive lines get a running back and te. Then the rest go to the secondary and linebackers. Resign the current quarterback Orvlosky because he showed he can play in the nfl. If Detroit falls for that quarterback crap by drafting a quarterback in the 1st round they will go right back to square 1.

Listen Detroit football is won in the trenches...Take the big tackle from Alabama I think his name is Andrews he will probaly be the best in his position in about 3-4 years. You can always take a QB with that 1st rd 20th pick, which I think will be an excellent place to pick a Tebow,Graham Harrell or trade to cleveland for Derek Andersen
