Pacman Jones is a letter-writer

Roger Goodell's going to have an interesting piece of mail on his desk sometime in the next few days. Pacman Jones told the Dallas Morning News that he'd composed a letter to the commissioner, formally asking to be reinstated.

When the Dallas Cowboys arrived here, Adam Jones went to work.

The cornerback grabbed a laptop computer and typed a 1 ½-page letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell asking for a full reinstatement to the league.

Jones said the letter will be mailed Thursday.

"I'm feeling real good," Jones said following Wednesday's practice with the Broncos. "It's just a letter on why I feel I should be reinstated. It's my chance to respond, and we'll see how it goes."

First, can I express a little surprise that Pacman wrote and typed the letter himself? I think he's probably a smarter guy than most people think, but it's hard to envision Mr. Make it Rain sitting down and typing a letter. Do you think he learned his technique from Mavis Beacon? All I know is that I'm going to feel pretty weird about things if Pacman Jones is cracking open Microsoft Word and banging out a page and a half, and we elect a President who freely admits he has no idea how to use a computer.

And beside that, there's not an agent or someone who can take care of his letter- writing for him? If I were Pacman's agent, I'd at least want to have a crack at proofreading that thing. I'd hate for that letter to get to the commissioner, and it include passages like:

• I haven't spit on anybody in a while, and that's hard for me, because I know some girls who really deserve it.

• I haven't been going to any strip clubs, or making it rain, or nothing like that. Those days are over for me. All I do now is sit at home and watch porno. Honest, man, that's it. Just porno. I've included a list of all the pornos I've seen in the last month. That's why this letter is a page and a half long.

• I've been making payments affordable for people, no matter what their credit situation is.

I expect that Pacman will be reinstated well ahead of opening weekend.

How many second chances should these spoiled atheletes get? There are hundreds of college football players every year who would love a chance to proove themselves while people like PACMAN are wasting their talent and their teams time.

mymy, he had a second chance after he spit on the first girl. He ruined it by spitting on another girl. He's had quite a few second chances, and he's ruined them all by getting trouble with the cops.

i will be so happy if they keep this ghetto trash out of the league. pacman is saying what he needs to so he can play again and make money to pay for all them strippers and payoffs to keep people from testifying against him. comeon goodell rid the league of this thug.

I can guarantee that Thugman will end up in prison. He is worthless. Reinstating this animal is just wrong. He should be in solitary confinement with the only person that can stand him.

The commish should wait for the outcome in the Vegas mess so he doesn't get egg on his and the NFL's face. And I think we can call him Pacman until the Vegas mess is cleared up and he is reinstated.

OK, people that keep saying he's had a chance and he's blown it, give it up. He has yet to be convicted of anything so unless something has changed and I wasn't informed it IS innocent until proven guilty still no? I think he should be allowed to play. He was already out for a year that is enough. If the Vegas situation turns out to be something bad and he goes down well then he goes down and you cross that bridge when you get there. But to keep him from playing yet ANOTHER season based on a what if? That just isn't right.
I'm not saying the kid is a saint, but don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house people, simple as that. I hope he gets to play this season. He has talent hopefully he has really turned around and things will be different this go around. I wish him the best.

giggles, I understand your point and I believe in due process and fairness, but htis is a mess of Pacman's making. Pacman copped a plea in Vegas, at least, so he admitted guilt there at least. Not a "what if". The big issue in Vegas that remains is the alleged shooter says Pacman lied. And we also know Pacman was not exactly prompt about providing information in the first place that led to the alleged shooter's apprehension. If he had done so, this might all be behind him. But he didn't, so it is fair that he, and not the NFL, bears the consequences of a delay. So there is an open issue due to his conduct which could result in his plea deal getting pulled and him getting real time.

I think that he will be reinstated before the end of the preseason. He made a mistake. As long as he is improving his behavior, he should have a second chance in the league. By the way, when will you continue the non-nfl players who would succeed in the nfl series?

#21...Yeah and George Bush made it into Harvard because of his smarts.
The guy can play football, but there's nothing racist about calling someone stupid by their actions. (all 9 of them)
#18....Nobody says it to his face because it isn't worth getting shot over. When you carry a concealed weapon legally, you tend to weigh your options a little better than a thug. (on that note, you gotta love the fact that Charles Bronsen is the guy in charge of issuing the Weapons Permits in FL.)

Alright, i'm not going to doubt that he's literate. I'm sure that he's intelligent enough to write a letter. and i'm not saying he's not talented. But what is the letter really going to say? "what happens in vegas, stays in vegas. you should let me play commish." since he's already practicing i dont see why he wouldn't get reinstated, plus innocent until proven guilty. i'm just curious to see the letter and the outcome of the case. if he gets reinstated and then gets hauled off to jail, goodell is probably going to get a lot of grief for it, which is probably the only reason why he wouldn't be reinstated.

This message is for John M. What is the ghetto ? have you ever been there, probably not, you see it's people like yourself who paste black faces on things you say like that. I bet you a thousand dollars you wouldn't say something like that to this man face. You are a coward, just like most people who are jumping on the hate pacman wagon. Lets see if they put up a blog about Matt Jones getting caught, using cocaine in the streets of arkansas of all places, isn't he a millionaire doesn't he own a home. Enough said.
