Shutdown Corner - NFL

The NFL has asked incumbent senator Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) to remove a video clip of the infamous Randy Moss(notes) mooning incident from a recently released campaign commercial.

Feingold's campaign told the Journal Sentinel that it will edit the ad to remove the unlicensed footage.

The 30-second spot opens with shots of various, non-NFL football players dancing in end zones before cutting to a clip of Moss fake-mooning the crowd at Lambeau Field in 2005. It proceeds to tenuously compare 15-yard excessive-celebration penalties to dirty politics, or something like that. It doesn't really make much sense:

The NFL may have done Feingold a favor in asking him to take down the ad. Generic football players dancing like my dad at a wedding? Reminding Packers fans about losing a playoff game to their hated rivals? And, worst of all, using Joe Buck's voice in any capacity? All that would be enough to make Keith Olbermann vote Republican.
