Giants PR chief lashes out at disgruntled fans on Twitter

There are generally three schools of thoughts on how to respond to Twitter critics: ignore them, passive aggressively retweet the comments while throwing in a bon mot to sound intellectually superior or pull an Ochocinco and resort to name calling. New York Giants vice president of communications Pat Hanlon subscribes to the last one.

In a flurry of Tweets on Thursday morning, the Giants PR chief issued a number of sarcastic responses to fans complaining about the team's lack of activity during the NFL's whirlwind free agency period.

Using Lombardi as a pejorative term like people in the '80s used Poindexter is fantastic. This is going to change the way I watch games broadcast by Tony Siragusa.

You see what he did there, throwing the words back at @StevenMurray10? That's the sort of stuff you only learn in advanced level PR classes.

That's not one Eagles burn, that's two Eagles burns. Granted, one has a typo and both are responses to the same guy, but who cares.

(Blurring is ours.) As NBC's Liam McHugh pointed out on Twitter, that first sentence could have used a comma. Still fantastic. All the rant was missing was "I'm rubber, you're glue" and "takes one to know one."

I'm all for Hanlon's methods but can't help to think that maybe it's not the best public relations strategy. You don't see the White House press secretary going up there and sniping back at critics. Oh, never mind.
