Dolphins interested in Jets' Kendall

The Miami Dolphins have contacted the New York Jets about the availability of guard Pete Kendall, whom the Jets were trying to trade before the draft. However, New York preferred not to trade Kendall to a team within the AFC East.

Kendall and agent Neil Schwartz have been trying to renegotiate his contract with the Jets, hoping for a raise of approximately $1 million. Kendall, who has three years remaining on his Jets deal after restructuring it a year ago, is scheduled to earn $1.7 million this year.

Kendall has been unhappy with his contract since seeing the sharp rise in free-agent deals for interior linemen this offseason. Among the guards who will earn more than $6 million after signing new contracts are Kris Dielman with San Diego, Derrick Dockery with Buffalo and Eric Steinbach with Cleveland.

Kendall, 33, is an 11-year veteran and was a first-round pick by Seattle in 1996. He has also played for the Cardinals.

seeing how good interior lineman are hard to come by, the jets just need to make a deal and relax knowing that they may have the best o-line in the afc

When will the Dolphins learn, seeking stop gaps via aged veternas isnt the answer. The Fish need a tackle not a guard.

Everytime someone pays rediculous prices for a player, everyone with better stats than that person should sit out a season in protest.
    hey, its only fair!

Every Time they pay a guard some ridiculous raise they raise ticket prices. beer prices and put the games on pay TV. I'm a Seattle fan and what Minnesota payed for Huchinson completely messed up the guard pay scale. Don't get me wrong he is a great player but he was going to make 2-3 million if he had stayed. Seems fair. G R E E D

me, me, me !! pay me. 1.7 million doesn't pay the bills? he should worry honoring the deal, he was happy with when he signed it. just because so and so got bent over, doesn't mean you deserve it too. greedy atheletes, try being a plumber for a year. i bet you'll never whine about a 1.7 mil. paycheck again!!

entertainment/sports fans should have their own union. salaries, tickets, ect. prices are growing at an alarming rate. our hard earned money and sometimes our taxes are paying these salaries and building their stadiums. everytime the salary cap goes up, so will your cable bill. fans need a consolidated voice to represent their ideas and opinions. whether it be ticket prices, a beer or the price of a jersey. does anyone really need that much money to play a game or to entertain. 5-6 million should satisfy ANY player. put a cap on salaries and lower prices on everything. if we had a "fan union" of our own, our views and oppinions would matter. what else could a fan ask for?

This is a big surpise. They will release him if they don't trade him according to some reports. Andruzzi,Bell from the TiTans via a trade for McCareins or James all are possible relacements for Kendall.

Who's he going to block for — Sage Rosenfels. Maybe Ted Ginn Jr can play QB — he sure as hell cant play wide receiver. Dolphins suck.

Once again players get greedy when other people are making more money than they are. I agree with the "work as plummer for a year and see how much you like1.7 mil". Players pay are an absolute joke but we have only one person to blame.....ourselves. We pay the over inflated ticket prices, the jerseys, ect, ect.......Who wouldn't ask for more money when they know someone will pay it. Thats why the Pats are the best, players actually WANT to play for them for less money.

11 yrs in the league is along time for an interior lineman but to get what the others guys are getting is ridiculous, no team in there right mind will give up millions to an aging lineman when they can get a younger guy and groom him into a great lineman at half the price, then worry about paying him the big bucks in a few yrs. BILLS will go to playoffs this yr.

Dip n dunk or not Chad always finds a way to win games hate him or love him but with tomas Jones and an improved defense that was pretty much shutdown in the last eight they will still be right behind the Pats.

jbormann34,you got it right on all accounts.I'm a Dolphins die hard and it doesn't hurt me to say that the Pats are the best organization in pro sports and should be the model after which every NFL team should be trying to copy. They not only fill positions they need, but also get quality guys to play multiple positions without "wanting" more money. That's thinking outside the box ! No one else attempts this. Why?Because agents have turned athletes into overpaid punks !!!! But for the few that truly want to win, they end up in N.E.,with the possible exception of Randy Moss.(What were they thinking)All athletes SAY they want to win,but their motto really is "SHOW MEEEEEEE THE MONEEEEEEEY!) I love the blue collar work ethic in N.E.,that does hurt me to say. Anyway, the best way for me to try to justify rising salaries and demand is to compare it to baseball and basketball players.True they play many more games, but they don't recieve physical punishment for 3&1/2 hours every single day of their career. Also the NBA and MLB aren't exactly raking in profits like the NFL is.Again,WHY you ask ? Because the players, goaded by agents and unions, are draining the system.I can see this happening to the NFL next because of their recent approach to large increases in the salary cap.
Ultimately,it's up yo us,the fans,to say enough is enough.Stop overpaying for tickets, stop buying NFL apparel, don't pay $300.00 a year for pay per view for pete's sake, and let's make the Super Bowl a sporting event again, not a freak show for celebrities.By the way,as much as I love being at the games, I haven't been to a Dolphin"s game in 8 years now,and haven't bought a hat or jersey for longer than that.It don't kill me,I watch on TV when available and read the paper or Net when it's not on TV.Oh yeah,I also get to spend quality time with my family and pay attention to my teenager and how she's being raised, even on Sunday !

Time to pony -up and pay Big Pete. They can not afford to lose this guy. The O-line should be strong this year with another year together.

bald, I don't see the Pats getting past the Colts, again. You might have like 80 recievers (Moss, Welker, Washington, Stallworth, Jackson, etc.) But I don't think Maroney will last all year, and you can't out shootout the Colts. I'm a Panthers fan, and for every Kendall there is a Steve Smith, who does it quietly, doesn't make a ruckus and hold out. N.E isn't the only model organization, Mike Minter lasted his whole career in Carolina and Smith will too. The Panthers players are a bunch of great players who aren't chasing contracts and try to win. A player, Dave Carr, who had a chance to go start in some places, took the back up role in Carolina b/c he wants to win, and Carolina is a top flight organization. N.E isn't the only place where they get quality guys, the NFL isn't just the T.Os of the world, there are alot of good guys who aren't greedy.
