Jaguars wide receiver Dennis Northcutt, for some reason referred to as an "NFL star" by TMZ.com, has been accused of conspiring to have the stuffing beaten out of a woman who claims to be pregnant with his child. 

The accuser, a woman named Shari Henry, says Northcutt was angry with her because she wouldn't have the baby aborted.

In her lawsuit, she claims that Northcutt persuaded an associate to "maliciously assault, beat, strike and batter Plaintiff, her face and head with great force and violence ... causing severe and permanent disfigurement to her face." She also filed a report about the incident with the LAPD.

Northcutt's agent told TMZ that the lawsuit was a "desperate shakedown by a jilted ex-girlfriend," and says the woman is just mad because Northcutt cut her loose for a new lucky lady. He also says Northcutt knew nothing about the assault until after the fact, and that the Henry "antagonized" that guy who did hit her.

What kind of antagonization justifies the beating of a pregnant woman, I'm not sure.

Henry's lawyer was up next, giving TMZ this statement:

"Mr. Northcutt and his entourage, which included his current girlfriend, were apparently angry that Miss Henry refused to abort a child that she believed he fathered. Words were exchanged and a member of that entourage, whom we believe is Mr. Northcutt's cousin, viciously attacked Miss Henry."

That's a sickening accusation, and if there's any truth to it, it would skyrocket Northcutt to the top of the "Jaguars Wide Receivers Who Could Have Spent Their Offseasons More Productively" rankings, despite stiff competition from Matt Jones.

In this kind of situation, I guess all you can do is hope that it's not true, and that there's no one out there that messed up.
