Deep Posts: Sabby's not too shabby

• The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making Sabby Piscitelli(notes) their starting strong safety, and I support any move that gives me the opportunity to say "Sabby Piscitelli" more often.

• Yes, the Eagles have been quite active in the offseason, but have they really solved all of their problems?

• Just as Jake Taylor couldn't cut it in the Mexican League, Mike Vanderjagt couldn't cut it in the Canadian Football League. He asked for his release because he "enjoys [his] life out of the spotlight." It must've been hell under that notoriously vicious CFL media scrutiny.

Bill Cowher turned his back on you, Pittsburgh.

• Fran Tarkenton's took a little criticism for the comments he made yesterday about Brett Favre, and he's responded to them today. Fran is sticking to his guns, and what are you gonna do about it, Marcellus Wiley(notes)?

Huh? And I support any more that gives you the opportunity to use an editor more often.

Watch for a Pittsburgh Steeler type defense in Tampa this year. They might not win more than 8-9 games, but they will physically beat a lot of teams. Playing the Bucs will be a memorable occasion for an offense... memorable, but not pleasureable, not easy and not real fun.

Is it somehow related to the "physical" Tampa D that was ranked #19 against the run last year? Just checkin'.

Fran's right. Brettie screwed GB not Thompson. Its difficult enough running an off-season program without your QB being able to make a decision. After 4 years of that crap, Brettie finally retired and moved on. " I didn't come here to be a God", was what this punk said when he arrived in NY. Earth to Brettie.....you throw a ball for a living. You never could be a God. Goodbye, adios, and good riddance!!

Hey Fitzy...The Tampa D will always be known to be tough, thanks to a whole decade of dominance. What does your team have to say about that?

I actually like your squad, Stephen, but 5 playoff appearances and 1 SB victory certainly do not make for a "decade of dominance." For that, see '60s Pack, '70s Steel Curtain, '80s 'Niners ("my team," btw), '90s Cowpokes, and (arguably) '00s Pats.
They're honestly not even one of the first teams I think of when I think of good franchise defenses this decade. I'd probably rate Steelers, Raves, Pats, Vikes, Titans, Bears, Giants higher. I'd rank TB somewhere from 8 to 10, probably.

Really Fitzy? I'm pretty sure maybe one or two (if any) of those other D's ranked in the top 10 10 of the last 12 seasons...oh and they were ranked in the top 5 against the run until that Carolina game which was when Kiffin decided to let them know he wasn't coming back and the D fell apart, but hey, what do i know....I'm just a fan

The ball has to be looked for at 30-40 yards down field.

Meh...I'm more of a points allowed guy than a yards allowed kinda guy, but I'll admit that's impressive. Still, top 10 out of 30 teams isn't necessarily what I'd call "dominant." But I will concede that they have been consistently strong, no doubt.
