Shutdown Corner - NFL

NFL Sundays don't turn out to be happy days for everyone. And without a place to vent, you might explode. We invite you to let the hurt out right here.

The Bengals dropped to 0-3 despite a valiant effort, the Raiders dropped a tough one in Buffalo, and the Chiefs are just absolutely hopeless. Your team might suck, too.

Do yourself a favor. Don't punch a wall or scream at your kids. Get it all out right here. It's a safe place to vent among other disgruntled NFL fans, and if anyone can understand your pain, it's a group of fans going through something similar.

Bring on your best aggravated rants and tales of woe. If we get some quality runs, we'll run the best of them here tomorrow.

Rule for this thread: No taunting of the losers. Let them have this one safe zone.

Wee, let's keep those timeouts Coach Kiffin, we might need them never! Especially with such a joke, Johnny Lee Higgins, returning kicks. That guy can't do anything right.

Why does every team in the Pac NW choke like sick dogs? I've been a Seahawks fan since the great #88, Zorn and old Chuck Knoll, and though Holmgren's got 'em looking like they're full of promise, they always seem to fold for some reason or another. All I have going for me is a game against the oh-so-lowly Rams where the Chickens I pray don't do no chokin' .

Raiders players should be dissed right now. That idiot Higgins was taunting the Bills on his long TD. Lo and behold, the Bills scored 10 points in the next 5 minutes to win the game. That's what happens when you taunt a team on their home field, ya clown....

I heard Kiffin wasn't even the main offensive coordinator at USC it was the Sarkisian guy. This was a bad hire and now Al Davis's pride and arrogance looks to be getting in the way of the Raiders moving on. It's hurting the team and it's definitely hurting the young future QB in Russell. The Chiefs Figpen are you kidding me how can you not be contacting Culpepper and begging him to come and play. Bengals 0-3 I think this should be Lewis's last season no matter what the outcome. Of course the ownership is willing to gamble on criminals so that just trickles down throughout the rest of the organization. Palmer's best years are being wasted (Palmer is a great Quarterback hurt by the mediocrity and stupidity around him). They need to trade Palmer for Palmer's sake or he should demand a trade like Mr. Ocho Cinco.

I can understand the lack of GOOD coaching in Bengal-land, especially when a certain player seems to want everyone to know him as a number. Did he even suit up?? Al Davis is just a senile owner trying to relive what USED to work. (why not bring back ol' J. Madden?) And as for the chiefs, well...............there's always the draft, right?

Bears lost like the Chargers did last week, on a blown call. Jeremy Trueblood started the whole thing, but Charles Tillman comes in to help his team and he gets flagged.
The refs are still as bad as they were last year if not worse.

What about Cleveland looks like the Browns overreacted on one year wonder Derek Andersen. Their on the verge of going 0-3 also after being considered contenders or playoff contenders. The Offense just hasn't clicked.

Prevent defense cost the Raiders the game...What the hell? They played good defense all day, then when the Bills needed two scores, they play prevent. Prevent only prevents you from winning the game! This fing sucks!

AMEN Lord S...stop going to the games, but, support the parking lot owners by showing up for the tailgate parties and let it be known (in your own special way) that the Ford's need to sell the team to somebody who cares about providing a winning football team! We Lion's fans are some of the best fans in the league...I'm sure you've been there when the Lion's had a team that resembled a winner and witnessed the noise level.
Can't believe I'd ever miss the Cocaine Wayne & Scott Mitchell days!

The raiders had the game in hand and they blew it. They started playing off the receivers allowing the bills to dink and dunk their way all the way to the endzone. There were bad calls on both sides. Deangelo Hall should not have gotten that interception, Gibril Wilson should not have been ejected since both players were doing unnecessary roughness. Unfortunately he got caught using retaliation and should learn to control that. The one thing that I couldn't understand was the taunting penalty. If what Higgins did was taunting then every act of excitement over a tackle, sack, first down, and touchdown dance should be considered taunting. Higgins wasn't even looking at the player chasing him down.
The reason the raiders lost was because of soft coverage and playing conservative near the end which tends to lead to losses for many teams and also the fact that the raiders held onto their timeouts at the end. It'll be a shame if Kiffin gets fired though because I believe that he has greatly improved the team. We're actually putting up more than 12 points a game now and against a fairly good defense in the bills
