The NFL originally flexed the game between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles to Sunday night because of the possibility of a Michael Vick(notes)-Brett Favre matchup. But with blizzard conditions expected to hit Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon (according to The Weather Channel, there could be as many as 8 inches by evening, combined with winds up to 40 miles per hour), the NFL has announced that the game will be postponed to Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.
The subject first came up Sunday morning, from the Twitter feed of NFL spokesman Greg Aiello:
The NFL is clearly making this decision with the safety of its players, team employees and fans in mind. This is the second time this season in which the Vikings have been involved in a weather debacle; huge snow totals in the Twin Cities two weeks ago turned the Metrodome into something looking like a soufflé after someone had slammed the oven door.

That Vikings game against the New York Giants was moved to Detroit, and from Sunday to Monday. Favre missed that game with a shoulder injury, but somehow went from "out" to active last Monday night against the Chicago Bears. The logic behind moving the Eagles-Vikings games to Tuesday probably has a lot to do with the Monday night game; a crucial division matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints.
Those more cynical among us might suggest that in this case, the league is looking at extending Favre's window of opportunity and extending the possibility of a face-off with Vick - after all, the snowstorm that's hitting Philly is going to batter the entire Northeast on Sunday - but we'll have to wait and see how THAT goes. Favre was listed on the Vikings' Friday injury report as doubtful with the concussion he suffered in the Bears game, and he practiced with the scout team.
Two more days for No. 4 to get well? With a captive national audience and one more chance to steal the focus, what do you think the chances are that he'll play?
