The
Bengals brought Chris Henry back after vehement assertions that they never
would, and they seem absolutely desperate for receiver help (more on that in a
second). If Rae's been doing his nightly push-ups and sprints through the yard,
one never knows. He's not due out until 2018, but with good behavior, and maybe
some kind of an early work-release program, it would be a perfect fit.
Chad Johnson's labrum is torn, and while he talks like the injury isn't a big deal, I'd keep in mind that we're not dealing with the most aware guy on the planet here. Chad could be buried up to his nipples in mashed potatoes while a gang of nude leprechauns danced around him in a circle, and he might not notice. There's not much I'd take his word on.
And there's this, too: Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Bengals have been calling teams up and offering Rudi Johnson in exchange for a wide receiver. Add that to the fact that they recently brought Chris Henry back aboard, and I smell extreme concern for the wide receiver position on the part of the Bengals. Perhaps they know something about TJ Houshmandzadeh's hamstring and Chad Johnson's labrum that we don't, and perhaps it isn't good news.
It's something you might want to keep an eye on when projecting win totals for the '08 Bengals. That, plus the fact that the offensive line can't keep Carson Palmer from getting his nose caved in against a preseason pass rush.
Other than all that, though, things are looking pretty good for the Bengals.

The real problem with the bengals is Mike Brown. Until he gives up his dream of owning the worst record in professional athletics and sells the team to someone with half a brain, Cincinnati is doomed.
