Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has praised Pep Guardiola for his work with players who came through the ranks of the club's youth academy, and believes the successful coach is leaving behind a "wonderful legacy".
Players such as Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Pedro, Isaac Cuenca and Christian Tello all rose to prominence under the guidance of Guardiola, and Zubizarreta has hailed the impact made by the 41-year-old trainer.
"Guardiola gives us the tranquility of knowing that he has faith in the youngsters and that if he picks them to play it’s because he believes that’s the solution," Zubizarreta was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"That’s something the players notice and take on board as equal members of the group. That’s one of Pep’s big pluses. It’s a wonderful legacy that he is leaving behind."
Zubizarreta then looked ahead to Friday's Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao, and he is certain that his Barca players will be highly motivated as it will be Guardiola's last game in charge of the team.
"I believe the players’ desire to send him off with the Copa del Rey trophy is a motivation," he said.
"This team are built on emotion and I believe that’s a good thing as football shouldn’t always be cold. It can be experienced in the most emotional manner."
