Zach Randolph finished with 32 points and notched nine rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a close victory over the Phoenix Suns, 97-91. The Grizzlies had no trouble knocking down shots in this game, finishing 40-77 (51.9%). Memphis (49-32) has now won four straight.
Randolph went 15-25 from the field, in a strong performance. Other key performers for Memphis were Marc Gasol with 18 points and eight rebounds, and Mike Conley with 14 points and seven assists. Despite the loss, Markieff Morris put up 21 points off the bench for Phoenix on 10-16 shooting.
The Grizzlies combined hot shooting (eFG% of 55.8%) with high-quality work on the offensive backboards (OR% of 31.2%). They are undefeated (6-0) on the season when exceeding 55% and 30%, respectively, in those metrics. The Suns, however, are winless (0-4) when giving up those numbers to their opponents.
Phoenix (47-34) has now dropped their last three straight contests.
Coming up next, the Grizzlies battle the Dallas Mavericks, who are 49-32 on the year. The Suns match up against the Sacramento Kings, currently 28-53 this season. The Grizzlies came up short against Dallas each of the last three times they've met. The Suns have lost two of their last three meetings with Sacramento.
