New York Jets Fantasy Football Week 5: Fan Preview

Yahoo Contributor Network

Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the New York Jets' key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.

Mark Sanchez, QB

Sanchez scored just 1.12 fantasy points in a blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week. This week he faces a Houston Texans' offense that has allowed an average of just 11.11 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. Not only does Sanchez have to face a brutal defense, he has no standout targets to throw the ball to. It looks to be a very tough game with Sanchez earning around 10.00 fantasy points on the week.

Shonn Greene, RB

Green finished the week earning 3.40 fantasy points against the 49ers, marking the third straight week he has grossly underperformed. This week he faces a Texans' defense that has given up an average of 15.50 fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Greene has a tough matchup and is loosing touches to backup Bilal Powell. Look for 8.00 fantasy points at best this week.

Stephen Hill, WR

Santonio Holmes is out and Hill is listed as doubtful for Monday's matchup against the Texans. The Jets' woes just never seem to end.

Jeremy Kerley, WR

Kerley finished the week earning just 1.20 fantasy points against San Francisco. This week he faces a Houston defense that has allowed an average of just 15.05 fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Not only does he face a tough matchup against a strong defense, Kerley has found himself as Sanchez's best receiving option. Look for around 6.00 fantasy points on the week.

Defense

The Jets finished the week earning just 1.00 fantasy point against the 49ers. This week they face a Texans' team that has given up an average of just 3.25 fantasy points per game to team defense this season. New York has an incredibly tough matchup even if Revis was playing. It would be best to seek better alternatives this week.
