Looking to build a more formidable rotation for the next two months and beyond, and perhaps uneasy with the asking price on Ubaldo Jimenez(notes), the New York Yankees were considering acquiring Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Hiroki Kuroda(notes) on Wednesday night.
Kuroda has a no-trade clause in his contract, so he must approve a deal. The Yankees are not alone in their interest in Kuroda, whose 3.19 ERA ranks 13th in the National League. His 12 losses are tied for first in the league, though those more accurately reflect the Dodgers' offense. Only San Diego's Dustin Moseley(notes) has received less run support.
Kuroda, 36, may not be an easy sell. He has great affinity for Los Angeles and the Dodgers, and could choose to stay.
