Breaking News:

Yankees make qualifying offers to Cano, Granderson, Kuroda

The SportsXchange

The New York Yankees made $14.1 million qualifying offers to second baseman Robinson Cano, outfielder Curtis Granderson and right-hander Hiroki Kuroda on Monday.

All three were in the last years of their contracts.

Cano figures to get huge offers on the free agent market. He batted .314 with 27 home runs and 107 RBIs this season.

Granderson was limited to 214 at-bats in 2013 due to a broken leg from getting hit by a pitch. He batted just .229 with seven homers and 15 RBIs.

Kuroda went 11-13 with a 3.31 ERA in 32 starts this year.

If they decline the offers and sign with other teams, the Yankees receive draft picks as compensation next year. They have until 5 p.m. on Nov. 11 to accept or decline the offers.
