The New York Yankees signed former New York Mets right-handed starting pitcher John Maine to a minor league deal on Friday. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed the deal, according to the New York Daily News. MLB.com originally reported the signing. Maine won 15 games for the Mets in 2007 but has not pitched in the majors since 2010. He is 41-36 with a 4.35 ERA in 108 career games with the Mets and Baltimore Orioles. Maine will report to the Yankees minor league facility in Tampa, Fla., in extended spring training. The 31-year-old pitched in 11 games for the Colorado Rockies' Class AAA team in Colorado Springs last season, where he went 1-3 with a 7.43 ERA. He signed with the Boston Red Sox in the winter but stayed in extended spring training. The club released him two weeks ago.
