Yankees DFA Cabral, sign Daley

The SportsXchange

The New York Yankees designated left-hander Cesar Cabral for assignment after Friday night's 11-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Cabral faced six batters in relief and failed to get an out. That included plunking three batters before getting ejected.

To make room for Cabral on the 25-man roster, the club signed 31-year-old right-hander Matt Daley to a major-league deal.

Daley made seven appearances for the Yankees last year. In six innings, he was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA with eight strikeouts and no walks. Over his career, he is 2-2 with a 4.38 ERA. He has 88 strikeouts and 30 walks in 86 1/3 innings.
