WWE No Way Out 2012 takes place on Sunday evening June 17th, 2012. This is the sixth pay per view of the year for World Wrestling Entertainment, and is headlined by John Cena versus The Big Show. If Big Show loses the bout, General Manager John Laurinaitis will be fired by Vince McMahon. In addition, there will be six more matches, announced via the WWE website, including Sheamus versus Dolph Ziggler. Here is a preview and prediction for tonight's big event.
John Cena vs. Big Show - Steel Cage
This match has a few varying stories going on. Cena and Show have a personal disagreement, as Big Show feels Cena didn't stand up for him when he was fired a few weeks back. The second story is if Show fails to win, the man who rehired him, John Laurinaitis, drops his employment as General Manager. This match is difficult to predict. On one hand, Big Show recently turned heel, so faltering could put a halt to his momentum. On the other hand, John Cena rarely loses pay per view bouts, and a defeat in the steel cage could downgrade his status as main event superstar. Although I am on the fence, I'll predict John Cena gets the win with the Attitude Adjustment.
Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler
With Dolph Ziggler being a last minute replacement for the injured Alberto Del Rio, I can't foresee the World Heavyweight Championship changing hands. Word going around is the WWE is really high on Sheamus and are determined to position him into a John Cena role. Since Ziggler has been midcard fodder for the last few months, I see this match going ten minutes tops, with Sheamus over cleanly. I predict Sheamus will retain.
Kane vs. CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan - Triple Threat Match
Triple threat rules will be in place when these three men battle for the WWE Championship. This means all three wrestlers will be in the ring at one time. Triple Threat matches are typically bothersome to follow, but if anybody can make it work, it's Punk and Bryan. Expect Punk and Bryan to pull out some high risks maneuvers, while Kane stays grounded. I predict CM Punk will lose the WWE Championship, and will continue to feud with Daniel Bryan headed into Summerslam.
Christian vs. Cody Rhodes
The WWE Intercontinental Championship will be up for grabs when Christian defends against Cody Rhodes. This feud hasn't garnered much attention, and really just feels like a rematch from last months pay per view. Rhodes hasn't completed anything to ascertain he has the ability to get the belt back. Christian has been on a winning streak since his title win. I predict Christian will retain the belt in a celebrated match with Cody Rhodes.
Layla vs. Beth Phoenix
The Divas Beth Phoenix and Layla will do combat over the Divas Championship. The women typically get two minutes of television time each week, so I expect this match to go six minutes top. I predict Beth will regain her title in an unmemorable match.
Santino Marella vs. Ricardo Rodriguez
The United States Championship takes a back seat to the Tuxedo match between Alberto Del Rio's ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez and resident comedy guy Santino Marella. Given the Tuxedo gimmick, I imagine this bout will be a complete joke. It could serve as down time among two high profile bouts. I predict Santino Marella will get the duke after stripped Ricardo to his skivvies.
Brodus Clay vs. David Otunga
The Funkasaurus will battle David Otunga in an undercard bout on the pay per view. Brodus Clay remains undefeated, and I don't see David Otunga changing that this evening. I predict Brodus Clay defeats Mr. Jennifer Hudson.
Besides these seven matches, I imagine the WWE will produce several meaningless backstage skits, and well as a two minute squash match with Ryback. On paper, the even looks underwhelming. I predict the show will be average, maybe slightly above the quality of a WWE Raw show.
