WWE Night of Champions
For fans who believe that winning championships is the most important aspect of pro wrestling, WWE Night of Champions should be a great pay-per-view. At Night of Champions, all WWE titles will be on the line. What is in doubt is whether any WWE titles will actually change hands at Night of Champions.
Take a closer look at my predictions for WWE Night of Champions 2012.
Battle Royal to determine number one contender for U.S. title
This match is the Pre-Show for Night of Champions. Obviously, this bout is difficult to predict since the WWE has not released the names of the participants. But I will go out on a limb and pick Tyson Kidd as the winner.
Prediction: Tyson Kidd wins Battle Royal
U.S. Championship: Antonio Cesaro vs. Battle Royal winner
I seriously doubt Antonio Cesaro will lose the U.S. title at WWE Night of Champions after winning the belt only a month ago. Unless Ryback is a surprise entrant in the Night of Champions Battle Royal, Cesaro will retain his title.
Prediction: Antonio Cesaro defeats Battle Royal winner
Divas Championship: Layla vs. Kaitlyn
As usual, the Divas division has taken a backseat to about a half-dozen other WWE storylines lately. Without any serious build-up or major rivalries, I can't see Layla losing the Divas title at Night of Champions.
Prediction: Layla defeats Kaitlyn
WWE Tag Team Championship: Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs. Daniel Bryan and Kane
When the WWE finds a good storyline, they saturate the airwaves with it. After a funny opening promo to the "anger management" angle, I predict we'll be seeing a lot more in the months to come from the new tag team champions.
Prediction: Daniel Bryan and Kane defeat Kofi Kingston and R-Truth
Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler
This is the only match at Night of Champions that does not have a championship angle. Although he is back on a WWE pay-per-view, don't look for Randy Orton to get a major push anytime soon. Dolph Ziggler will be victorious.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler defeats Randy Orton
World Heavyweight Championship: Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio
Get ready for a "bait and switch" in this one. The WWE would like us to believe that Sheamus is in trouble at Night of Champions now that the Brogue Kick is banned. However, I predict Sheamus will find another way to retain his title.
Prediction: Sheamus defeats Alberto Del Rio
Intercontinental Championship: The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes
According to the laws of probability, the champion has a 25 percent chance of retaining his title in a Fatal 4-Way. But it sure seems like the champions win these matches a lot more than that. The Miz will also beat the odds at Night of Champions.
Prediction: The Miz defeats Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, and Cody Rhodes
WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. John Cena
I'm honestly having a difficult time predicting how this match will unfold. To me, it is unfathomable that John Cena has gone this long without holding a WWE belt. Perhaps an angry CM Punk will be an even better heel after WWE Night of Champions.
Prediction: John Cena defeats CM Punk
