The WWE Extreme Rules PPV is known for violent matches, stipulations and surprising moments. WWE Superstars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Kane, Big Show, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, John Cena and Brock Lesnar were all involved in violent moments during the pay per view.
CM Punk Elbow Drop
CM Punk has been utilizing the Macho Man Randy Savage elbow drop for the past year, but at the Extreme Rules pay per view he showcased it like never before. After battling Chris Jericho in a grueling match, CM Punk threw him on the announcer's table. He climbed to the top rope and smashed Jericho through the announcer's table. The crowd was completely into this brawl and it is another classic match for Punk's resume.
Randy Orton vs. Kane
The opening match of Extreme Rules between Randy Orton and Kane was a pure brawl. The WWE Superstars battled all over the arena, went backstage and Zack Ryder even got briefly involved. Two violent highlights in the match include a steel pipe beat down Orton delivered to Kane towards the beginning of the match and the grand finale when Orton delivered the RKO finisher to Kane on a steel chair.
Cody Rhodes Meets the Tables
Cody Rhodes may be walking out of Extreme Rules with the Intercontinental Championship, but it was The Big Show who got the last laugh. After Cody psyched the Big Show out and made him step through a table, the anger came over him and caused a lot of shattered wood. The Big Show put Rhodes through multiple tables before he left the ring and while he doesn't have the Championship, he still has his pride.
CM Punk and Chris Jericho Go Kendo
One of the most painful sounding weapons at Extreme Rules is the kendo stick. During various moments in the Chicago Street Fight, both Superstars got their hands on a kendo stick and delivered painful shots to one another. Mixed in with fire extinguishers, beer cans and a steel chair, the match delivered the violent feel that Extreme Rules advertises.
John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
Barley five minutes into the match, Cena was busted wide open and that just set the theme for the rest of the main event battle. Brock Lesnar controlled a lot of the match and taunted Cena along the way. The Superstars used steel chains, steel steps and multiple referees got knocked out along the way.
