Washington State redshirt freshman wide receiver Mansel Simmons was conscious again Monday, one day after he was first hospitalized following a reported brawl. According to Pullman, Wash., police, Simmons was involved in a fight with players from the nearby University of Idaho, and he wound up with head injuries in a church parking lot. Simmons was taken to a hospital in Pullman before he was moved to a hospital in Spokane, Wash., the Moscow-Pullman Daily News reported. The players from the two schools were together at a party in Pullman before a dispute occurred, according to police. "All that's coming up so far is just a rivalry between the two teams," Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant told the Daily News. Tennant added that police believe an Idaho player was the one who injured Simmons, though he didn't name the "person of interest." A spokesman for the Washington State athletic department said that the incident would be addressed internally, the Daily News reported.
