Money for the Winner of WSOP

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) was first played in 1970 with a mere six players. The WSOP has since then become poker's most prestigious event. This world famous poker tournament attracted nearly 76,000 participants that came from 105 different nations in 2011. They competed against each other to win more than $192 million in prize money. This major event is televised on ESPN and lasts for more than a month. The 2012 WSOP is the 43rd annual that now includes 61 separate bracelet tournaments in every type of poker game.

WSOP Location

The 2012 WSOP takes place in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino that is located at 3700 West Flamingo Road in Las Vegas, Nevada. Caesars Entertainment purchased the WSOP in 2004 and moved the World Series of Poker from the Horseshoe Casino in downtown to the present day location. The casino's main contact numbers are (Toll-Free) 1-800-752-9746 and (Local) 1-702-777-6777. Each year the casino transforms the Rio Convention area into an expanded poker room featuring 480 poker tables. The WSOP is held in the Pavilion, Brasilia and Amazon Room on the casino's property.

WSOP Tournament Dates

At 9 AM on May 27, 2012, satellites, live action and registration begin for the 2012 WSOP. This continues until July 16, 2012. The World Series of Poker Main Event starts on July 7 and continues for 10 days. Event #1 is a 2-day (No-Limit Hold'em) event for any casino employee that is scheduled for noon on May 27, 2012. The next event is a 2-day No-Limit Hold'em event that is open to the public.

WSOP Registration

Players can register for the World Series of Poker bracelet events up to two weeks before the date of the event. Registration continues right up to the start of the specific event, but the events have limited seating and may fill to capacity before the set start time. For this reason, pre-registration is suggested. Registration for WSOP events is open from May 27 to July 10, 2012 onsite and accepted 24 hours a day. Online pre-registration is available now.
