New York Mets third baseman David Wright is expected to return to the lineup Friday night after missing seven weeks with a strained right hamstring.
Manager Terry Collins said Wright looked good in workouts the past two days.
The seven-time All-Star is batting .309 with 16 home runs and 54 RBI with a .391 on-base percentage this year.
Wright, 30, has been on the disabled list since Aug. 3.
The Mets begin a series in Philadelphia against the Phillies on Friday.
Also, infielder Wilfredo Tovar will be called up from the minor leagues on Friday to replace shortstop Ruben Tejada, who broke his right leg Wednesday night against the San Francisco Giants.
