The world reacts to the Westminster attack
Following Wednesday's terror attack near the Houses of Parliament, the world is sharing "Pray for London" and "We are not afraid" messages in support of the victims of the tragic incident, which left four people dead and 20 people injured.
Since the Metropolitan Police confirmed that one of their servicemen was killed outside parliament by the attacker, fellow officers and social media users have paid tribute to the officer, using the hashtag #ThinBlueLine.

In a statement released after the attack, Scotland Yard’s Head of Counter Terrorism Mark Rowley said the Metropolitan Police had “lost one of our own as he acted to protect the public and his colleagues”. Several other police forces have shared tweets, including the Los Angeles Police Department, who said their “thoughts & prayers are with the people of #London”.

Politicians and world leaders have also spoken out in support of London. President Trump offered his condolences via Twitter, while François Hollande, the French president, "conveyed the solidarity of France in this tragic ordeal," in a statement.

Tributes have also been paid to Foreign Office Minister Tobias Ellwood, who has has been described as a"hero" after he was pictured giving first aid to one of the casualties on the scene. According to reports, the Conservative MP gave mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to the police officer in New Palace Yard.

Speaking to The Sun, Mr Ellwood, formerly an Army Captain who lost his brother in the 2002 Bali bombings, described the incident as a “huge tragedy”.
“I tried to stem the flow of blood and give mouth to mouth while waiting for the medics to arrive but I think he had lost too much blood," he said. He had multiple wounds, under the arm and in the back. As I understand it the attacker has also died. I’m not allowed to say anything, I’ll get into trouble. It’s very sad.”
