Woods to play in Honda Classic

Tiger Woods, the world's second-ranked golfer, officially committed Tuesday to play in this year's Honda Classic, pairing with top player Rory McIlroy to headline the tournament.

The event is scheduled for Feb. 28 to March 3 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.

"We just learned about the official commitment 45 minutes ago," tournament executive Ken Kennerly told the Miami Herald. "This means a lot to us."

Woods also announced that he will compete in the WGC-Cadillac Championship and WGC-Accenture Match Play tournament.

McIlroy, the defending champ at Honda, beat Woods by two strokes last year. Others in the field include: Lee Westwood, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Rose and Rickie Fowler.
