Woods apologizes to U.S. Ryder Cup rookies

The SportsXchange

Tiger Woods personally apologized to the four U.S. rookies for his performance after the Ryder Cup team lost to Europe 14 1/2-13 1/2 over the weekend at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago.

GolfWorld magazine's Tim Rosaforte told the Golf Channel on Monday morning that Woods sat down with Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker and apologized for not coming through to get the necessary points needed for the U.S. to win.

Woods went 0-3-1 in the 39th Ryder Cup and is 15-17-3 for his career. Woods did have a stretch during Friday's four-ball match with Steve Stricker in which he had seven birdies. That could not top the eight birdies and eagle by Lee Westwood and Nicolas Colsaerts as the pairing lost 1 down to the Europeans.

The U.S. rookies went 9-6 overall, including Bradley (3-1-0), Dufner (3-1-0), Simpson (2-2-0) and Snedeker (1-2-0).

Woods has only been a part of one U.S. victory on seven Ryder Cup teams. That win came in 1999.
