Stephanie McMahon Q&A:

Wolves' Rubio will skip two-game road trip

Guard Ricky Rubio will miss the Minnesota Timberwolves' next two games due to back spasms, coach Rick Adelman said.

Rubio won't travel with the team for road games Wednesday at Utah and Thursday at Denver.

Adelman said it's possible Rubio would be able to play in the Saturday home game against the Portland Trail Blazers after receiving several days of treatment.

"It's just something we don't need to push," Adelman said. "We don't want something else to go haywire."

Rubio sat out the first 20 games of the season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left knee, and the team has limited his minutes since his return. He has played in five of past seven games, lasting a season-high 21 minutes Dec. 26 in a loss to the Houston Rockets before sitting out the next game, a win over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.

According to the Pioneer Press, Rubio dealt with a groin ailment while recovering from the knee injury.

"Now my back hurts," he said, the Pioneer Press reported. "I have to keep working on it. On Friday, I could hardly move at all."

The 22-year-old Spaniard is averaging 4.2 points and 4.0 assists this season. As a rookie last season, Rubio averaged 10.6 points and 8.2 assists.
