Goaltender Matt Climie registered his fourth shutout of the season, lifting the Chicago Wolves to a 3-0 victory over the Peoria Rivermen in an Illinois Lottery Cup game at Carver Arena on Saturday night.
The last time the Wolves (26-16-4-3) won a game at Peoria (23-23-4-3) was Jan. 6, 2012. It marked the 500th AHL victory for the Chicago franchise.
Tied 0-0 after two periods for the second time this season, Chicago scored 1:50 into the third period. Wolves forward Darren Haydar, who had a hat trick in the last game against Peoria, scored on a wrap-around goal on Peoria goalie Jake Allen.
Center Andrew Ebbett took advantage of a net left open by Allen to score at 3:01. And Haydar popped a cross-ice feed for forward Devin DiDiomete, who ripped a low shot past Allen with 14:32 to play.
Climie (14-13-2), stopped 38 shots in the shutout while Allen (12-17-2) made 31 saves
