BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) -- Spencer Collins scored 14 points and shot 6 for 9 from the field to edge Wofford past Gardner-Webb 65-62 on Wednesday night.
Both teams were evenly matched in a game with 12 ties and six lead changes; the score was tied at 26 heading into the break.
Karl Cochran, who finished with 9 points and six rebounds, made a free throw with 42 seconds remaining to give Wofford (3-4) its largest lead of the game putting the Terriers up 64-56.
Gardner-Webb (4-5) quickly answered with two late 3-pointers from Tyler Strange to bring the Runnin' Bullodgs within 2. However, It wasn't enough, and an inbound steal with 3 seconds left gave the Terriers the cushion they needed to weather the late resurgence.
Lee Skinner and Jaylen Allen also scored in double figures for the Terries and both finished with 11. Tyrell Nelson led Gardner-Webb with a game-high 16.
