The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee knocked off Illinois-Chicago 64-53 on Wednesday as the Panthers seniors led the way to a victory in their final home game.
Paris Gulley hit 5 of 8 three-pointers and scored 17 points for the Panthers (7-22, 3-12 Horizon League). Demetrius Harris had nine points and three blocked shots for Milwaukee, which entered the night with nine losses in its last 10 games.
Gary Talton was the only player to score in double figures for the Flames (15-12, 6-8), who lost for the second time in a row and the fourth time in five games. Talton finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Panthers won despite 16 turnovers and four offensive rebounds, helped by a strong performance from beyond the arc. Milwaukee went 9 of 20 (45 percent) from three-point range even though Jordan Aaron missed five of his six attempts.
The Panthers held UIC to 35.1 percent shooting from the field, including just 5 of 18 three-pointers (27.8 percent).
Milwaukee led for the final 38:11. The only UIC lead of the day was at 2-1.
