Williamson joins Kings coaching staff

The Sacramento Kings added Corliss Williamson to their coaching staff, the team announced Friday.

Williamson, who starred at Arkansas and played two stints for the Kings, rejoins the team as an assistant coach.

First-year head coach Michael Malone's staff also includes Brendan Malone, Dee Brown, Chris Jent, and Micah Nori.

Williamson spent the last three years as coach at Central Arkansas, where he compiled a 26-62 record. The team went 13-17 last season, its second-highest win total since moving to Division I in 2006. He also coached at Arkansas Baptist College -- two years as an assistant and one as head coach during the 2009-10 season.

Williamson spent 12 seasons in the NBA, which included winning an NBA title with the Detroit Pistons in 2004. He played in Sacramento from 1995-2000 and 2004-07. In 466 career games, he averaged 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 22.9 minutes.

He led Arkansas to the NCAA title in 1994 and to the championship game in '95. He was taken by the Kings with the No. 13 overall pick in the 1995 draft.

Williamson also spent part of one season with the Toronto Raptors before being dealt to the Pistons during the 2000-01 season. He was awarded the Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2002 with Detroit.
