After a Kyle Gaillard layup gave William & Mary the lead for the final time at 41-40, Wichita State (3-0) went on a 13-2 run to take control. A 10-1 run to close the game left the final margin more lopsided than the play on the court would indicate.

Marcus Thornton scored 18 points to lead William & Mary (1-2), which hurt itself with 14 turnovers and 11-of-22 free throw shooting.
