The Chicago White Sox placed right-hander Gavin Floyd on 15-day disabled list Sunday with a flexor muscle strain in his right elbow.
Floyd was injured in the third inning of the White Sox's 10-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. He left the game after giving up two earned runs in 2 2/3 innings.
Reliever Deunte Heath was recalled from triple-A Charlotte to fill Floyd's spot on the roster. Hector Santiago likely will take Floyd's place in the starting rotation.
The 30-year-old Floyd is 0-4 in five starts in April with a 5.18 ERA in 24 1/3 innings.
Floyd also had a flexor strain last year and was sidelined for approximately three weeks. There was no indication from the team how long he'll be out with the latest injury.
