White Sox's Beckham has hand surgery

Chicago White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham had surgery Tuesday to remove the hamate bone from his left hand.

The team said the procedure went "splendidly," and Beckham is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Jeff Keppinger is expected to play second base while Conor Gillaspie earns the majority of starts at third.

Beckham began the season hitting .316 in his first 19 at-bats, with no extra-base hits.
