Michael Finewax looks at the upcoming trade deadline and all the fantasy news you need to know in The …

The NHL trade deadline is 3 pm ET Wednesday and Rotoworld will be all over it, updating all the trades by the minute so stay here for all the trade action and analysis.

There are only five that are out of playoff consideration as the deadline approaches. Edmonton, Calgary, Buffalo, Florida and the New York Islanders should be the big wheelers and dealers as far as give up teams are concerned, although Nashville and Carolina could also be in the mix as they have a bunch of teams to pass in the standings to make the post-season.

Look for Thomas Vanek, Andrew MacDonald, Matt Moulson, Ryan Miller, Ales Hemsky, Michael Cammalleri (if he doesn't re-sign with Calgary) and Martin Brodeur to be dealt elsewhere. Brodeur could be dealt by the Devils as Cory Schneider has taken over the net with New Jersey.

It should be interesting. Join Ryan Dadoun and myself on Wednesday evening for a live fantasy chat at 8pm ET as we attempt to replace Brian Rosenbaum for one week. Brian will be back the following week to take all your questions.

Now to The Week Ahead.

3 Games– Carolina, Chicago, Colorado, Edmonton, Florida, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Nashville , New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Ottawa, Phoenix, Pittsburgh,  San Jose, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington, Winnipeg

2 Games - Anaheim, Philadelphia

Montreal plays all four games on the road.

Dallas, Edmonton, Nashville, San Jose and Winnipeg play three games at home.

Buffalo, Columbus, the New York Islanders, Ottawa, Pittsburgh and St. Louis play three games on the road.

INJURIES

Mikhail Grabovski suffered a lower body injury on Thursday, (Click here to see the rest of the injury list.)

ANAHEIM

Games this week

vs. Montreal, vs. Pittsburgh

Rested team: vs. Pittsburgh (Friday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Ducks play only two games for the second week in a row.  Sami Vatanen returned from winning a bronze medal in Sochi, to find out that he wasn't going to play in the NHL as the Ducks activated Mark Fistric from the injured reserve list. Vatanen has played well this season but he is on a two-way contract and rather than lose someone, he was sent down. Teemu Selanne was outstanding at the Olympics as he was named the MVP but he is seeing less than 15 minutes of ice time with Anaheim this season. Saku Koivu is healthy and ready to play as the rest he received during the Olympic break allowed him to recover from a groin injury.  Vikor Fasth has been out since November 11 with a lower body injury and was sent this past week to the minors on a long-term conditioning stint.

BOSTON

Games this week

vs. Florida, vs. Washington, @ Tampa Bay, @ Florida

Rested team: vs. Washington (Thursday)

Tired Team: @ Florida (Sunday)

Notes

The Bruins play three games in four nights so look for Tuukka Rask to miss a game as Chad Johnson should get one start. Loui Eriksson had a great Olympic tournament for Sweden and coach Claude Julien hopes he can continue his strong play the rest of the way. The Bruins are busy in the month of March with 17 games in 31 days including five back-to-back games so Johnson should see the net a lot this month. Zdeno Chara scored in his first game back from Sochi. Milan Lucic has a five game scoring streak in which he has seven points. The Bruins play Florida twice this week so look for Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand and Shawn Thornton to get some penalty minutes if tempers flare.

BUFFALO

Games this week

@ Dallas, @ Tampa Bay, @ Florida, vs. Chicago

Rested team: None

Tired Team: @ Florida (Friday)

Notes

The Sabres play three games in four nights so look for Jhonas Enroth to play once this week with Ryan Miller playing the remainder of the games, if he is not dealt elsewhere. The Sabres have already played two games after the break with one being the result of a snow out earlier this year against Carolina. Look for Miller and Matt Moulson to be dealt by the March 5 trade deadline as the Sabres will continue to acquire first round selections. They already have an extra one this season (although the Islanders have the option of making it a 2015 pick) in addition to their own. Do not be surprised if Ville Leino is bought out of his contract at the end of the season. Tyler Ennis missed Wednesday's game with an undisclosed injury.

CALGARY

Games this week

@ Minnesota, vs. Ottawa, vs. New York Islanders, @ Vancouver

Rested team: vs. Ottawa, (Wednesday) vs. New York Islander (Friday)

Tired Team: @ Vancouver (Saturday)

Notes

Karri Ramo is still out of action so look for Reto Berra and Joni Ortio to split the net this week (if Ramo is not back) as the Flames play four times including three games in four nights. Michael Cammalleri was thought to be  a sure bet to be traded at the deadline but the Flames offered him a contract extension that he is pondering. Markus Granlund, the older brother of the Wild's Mikael, was recalled this week after scoring 23 goals and 44 points in 50 games with Abbotsford of the AHL.  Curtis Glencross practiced on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a high-ankle sprain just before Christmas.

CAROLINA

Games this week

@ San Jose, vs. New York Rangers, @ New Jersey

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Hurricanes finish a five game road trip in San Jose after the break. Cam Ward returned to action after missing two months (including the Olympic break) and stopped only 15 shots in a 3-2 loss to lowly Buffalo. Anton Khudobin has been great for the Hurricanes this season as he is 13-7-0 with a 2.18 GAA and a .926 save percentage. He could get more starts down the stretch than Ward. Eric Staal is poised to have a big finish to the season, as he has always been a strong second-half player. Alexander Semin has nine goals in his last 13 games.

CHICAGO

Games this week

vs. Colorado, vs. Columbus, @ Buffalo

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Peter Regin skated with Patrick Kane in practice on Wednesday and he will gain a huge boost in fantasy value if he gets top six minutes. Look for Corey Crawford to see the net for the vast majority of games the rest of the way so Antti Raanta's value will take a hit. The Olympic break seems to have done wonders for Bryan Bickell  as the winger seems to be healthy for the first time all season. Duncan Keith and Jonathan Toews have now won two Stanley Cups and two Olympic Gold medals in their career while Patrick Sharp picked up his first Gold.

COLORADO

Games this week

@ Chicago, @ Detroit, vs. St. Louis

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Jamie McGinn has had his fantasy value skyrocket of late with his inclusion on a line with Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly. He has five goals and nine points in his last ten games. Marc-Andre Cliche has inked a new two-year contract extension. Nathan MacKinnon is on a nine game points streak and has 12 points in that stretch. Duchene had a limited role in Sochi but he feels that his experience there will be a big help to his NHL career as he said that he learned how to win being around winners. He picked up a couple of assists Wednesday and now has 52 points in 56 games.

COLUMBUS

Games this week

@ Toronto, vs. Dallas, @ Chicago, @ Nashville

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Blue Jackets play four times this week including three games in four nights so look for Curtis McElhinney to play once for Sergei Bobrovsky. Marian Gaborik finally returned to action on Thursday after breaking his collarbone on December 21. Gaborik returned from an injury on that day so he has actually played only once since November 14. Fedor Tyutin injured his ankle during the Olympics and the Blue Jackets have played him on the injured reserve list.  He should miss the next two-three weeks. Jared Boll has returned to practice on Sunday after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ankle tendon in December. He should be out about another month.

DALLAS

Games this week

vs. Buffalo, @ Columbus, vs. Vancouver, vs. Minnesota

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Stars play three games in four nights as part of a four game week so look for Dan Ellis to replace Kari Lehtonen in net once.  Jamie Benn showed the rest of the hockey world what the Dallas Stars and their hockey fans already knew; he's a heck of a hockey player. Stephane Robidas is ahead of schedule from a broken leg and may return for part of the regular season. Alex Chiasson has put on 15 pounds since Christmas (and it wasn't because of the turkey and stuffing) and feels healthier and stronger as the Stars head into the final quarter of the season. He was regarded as the Stars' top rookie heading into the season but Valeri Nichushkin has surpassed him.

DETROIT

Games this week

@ New Jersey, vs. Colorado, vs. New Jersey, @ New York Rangers

Rested team: None

Tired Team: vs. New Jersey (Friday)

Notes

The Red Wings play three games in four nights and four games this week, so look for Jonas Gustavsson to play at least once for Jimmy Howard. Johan Franzen returned on Wednesday from a concussion that forced him to miss 22 of the previous 23 games. He assisted on both goals to lead the Red Wings to a one goal win. Todd Bertuzzi scored on Wednesday after being a healthy scratch the previous eight games. Gustav Nyquist has six goals in his last six games and has three of the Red Wings last seven power play goals. He is owned in only 34 percent of Yahoo! pools and will see a lot more action with Henrik Zetterberg gone for the remainder of the regular season. The Red Wings play the Devils twice this week so look for Kyle Quincey to add to his minutes count if there is any rough stuff.

EDMONTON

Games this week

vs. Ottawa, vs. New York Islanders, vs. Los Angeles

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Oilers want to see what Ben Scrivens is able to do as the netminder is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Edmonton will give Ilya Bryzgalov some time as well and then decide on giving the job to whoever is playing better the rest of the way. Ales Hemsky was moved up to the second line, alongside Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle but it is likely that he will be traded at the deadline. Eberle wants the Oilers to finish strong despite the fact that they are out of the playoff race. Taylor Hall and Eberle were projected on some mock rosters to make Team Canada for the 2018 Olympics.

FLORIDA

Games this week

@ Boston, vs. Buffalo, vs. Boston

Rested team: vs. Buffalo (Friday), vs. Boston (Sunday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Panthers play the Bruins twice this week so expect that Krys Barch, Erik Gudbranson or Scottie Upshall will be involved if there are fights in either game. The Panthers have the worst power play in the NHL at nine percent and will give the six-foot, six-inch Jimmy Hayes some time on the pp in front of the net. Florida recalled Drew Shore at the beginning of the week and he'll see time with Jonathan Huberdeau and Scottie Upshall. Aleksander Barkov, who was hurt in the Olympics when he injured his knee, will not require surgery. His spot on the top line will likely be taken by Nick Bjudstad who will center Sean Bergenheim and Brad Boyes.

LOS ANGELES

Games this week

vs. Montreal, @ Winnipeg, @ Edmonton

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Kings play only Canadian teams this week as they host Montreal before going on the road to play Winnipeg and Edmonton. Look for Martin Jones to play on occasion as Jonathan Quick will get the majority of the starts. Drew Doughty and Jeff Carter won gold for Canada and Doughty was the only Canadian named to the all-star team. The Kings recalled Linden Vey and Tanner Pearson this week from the minors. Pearson will get a shot on the second unit alongside Mike Richards and Carter.  Dustin Brown picked up a rare point in Wednesday's win over Colorado but he saw little ice time in the final two games for the United States.

MINNESOTA

Games this week

vs. Calgary, @ Dallas, vs. St. Louis

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Minnesota Wild were thought to be in trouble when starting goaltender Josh Harding started having problems once again in controlling his multiple sclerosis. But in came Darcy Kuemper from the minors to steal the job from Niklas Backstrom and put the Wild in a playoff spot. Kuemper is currently 9-3-2 this season with a 2.29 GAA and a .921 save percentage. Mikael Granlund was outstanding during the Olympics, as the 21-year-old Finn was named to the All-Star team along with linemate Teemu Selanne and Phil Kessel of the United States. He had only five goals and 27 points in 46 games for the Wild before the break but he is the player to pick up if available, in fantasy pools. Mikko Koivu did not play Thursday as coach Mike Yeo is still reluctant to use the center in back-to-back games because of his ankle injury, but he should be available this week.

MONTREAL

Games this week

@ Los Angeles, @ Anaheim, @ Phoenix, @ San Jose

Rested team: None

Tired Team: @ Phoenix (Thursday)

Notes

The Canadiens play three games in four nights as part of a four game week out in the Southwestern United States, so look for Peter Budaj to play once with Carey Price carrying the rest of the load. Price is currently sidelined with a lower-body injury picked up at the Olympics but we are banking on him being okay to go this week. The Habs recalled Dustin Tokarski to back up Budaj in the interim. Lars Eller has been in a major slump with only one assist and a minus-eight rating in his last 19 games. He is only 24 and should bounce back next season. Brandon Prust has missed both games since the break with an upper body injury, but the feisty forward could return during the road trip.

NASHVILLE

Games this week

vs. Pittsburgh, vs. St. Louis, vs. Columbus

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Pekka Rinne was sent to Milwaukee on a conditioning stint. He has been out of action with an infected hip that required a couple of surgeries, since October 22 and there is no timetable for his return at this time. David Legwand could be dealt this week as he is slated to become an unrestricted free agent and there have been no contract discussions as of yet. Seth Jones played alongside Mattias Ekholm on Thursday as Michael Del Zotto was paired with Ryan Ellis. Roman Josi has almost identical stats to Justin Schultz in traditional pools but most rank Schultz way ahead of Josi in pools. I don't understand this.  Josi is a good player and playing with Shea Weber cannot hurt.

NEW JERSEY

Games this week

vs. Detroit, @ Detroit, vs. Carolina

Rested team: @ Detroit (Friday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Devils play the Red Wings in back-to-back games, although it's not for the Red Wings who play the Avalanche in between, so expect to see Bryce Salvador get into a fight if tempers flare. Cory Schneider is definitely the top goalie in New Jersey as his 1.85 GAA and .926 save percentage attests to, so Martin Brodeur could be dealt to give the Devils an extra draft pick. Do not forget that the Devils must forfeit their first round pick this season because of the Ilya Kovalchuk signing fiasco a few years ago. GM Lou Lamoriello says the Devils will be buyers at the deadline so Jaromir Jagr may stay in New Jersey.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS

Games this week

@ Winnipeg, @ Calgary, @ Edmonton

Rested team: None

Tired Team: @ Calgary (Friday)

Notes

The Islanders play three games in four nights so expect to see Kevin Poulin play once instead of Evgeni Nabokov. Michael Grabner had a great Olympics, leading the tourney in goals, and he continued his hot pace his first game back with a couple of shorthanded goals. The Islanders recalled Ryan Strome, Anders Lee and Mike Halmo from the minors. Look for Strome to see action on the top line with Thomas Vanek (if he stays) and Kyle Okposo. The Islanders will likely deal Vanek and Andrew MacDonald's name is being bandied about as well. Frans Nielsen was placed on the injured reserve list with a broken hand.

NEW YORK RANGERS

Games this week

vs. Toronto, @ Carolina, vs. Detroit

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Mats Zuccarello broke his hand at the Olympics and should return in a couple of weeks. There were rumors abound that the Rangers offered Ryan Callahan straight up for Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis and now the rumor is that St. Louis wants out of Tampa Bay but the Rangers are the only team he wants to go to. Cameron Talbot stopped all but one shot Thursday in a 2-1 win over Chicago. Talbot is 11-5-0 this season with a 1.75 GAA and a .938 save percentage. Too bad that the best goalie in the NHL over the last five years, Henrik Lundqvist, is ahead of him on the depth chart. The Rangers recalled J.T. Miller from the minors.

OTTAWA

Games this week

@ Edmonton, @ Calgary, @ Winnipeg

Rested team: None

Tired Team: @ Calgary (Wednesday)

Notes

The Senators continue their road trip across Western Canada this week as they have all three games on the Prairies. Craig Anderson missed Thursday's game as his wife gave birth to their second child. It was not a pretty night for Robin Lehner as he gave up six goals on only 15 shots before being removed for Andrew Hammond who made his NHL debut. Bobby Ryan was not happy at being left off the United States Olympic team but it allowed him the time to heal from a nagging injury. Milan Michalek knows he could be traded at the deadline and is trying not to let the rumors bother him.

PHILADELPHIA

Games this week

vs. Washington, @ Toronto

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Flyers play the back half of a home-and-home series with Washington on Wednesday  so expect to see Zac Rinaldo, Steve Downie, Scott Hartnell or Wayne Simmonds get involved in a fight if there is any trouble on the ice. Hard luck defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon suffered yet another apparent concussion in an AHL game in January. He missed the entire season last year after suffering a concussion during the 2011-12 season, when he played 45 games for the Flyers. Kimmo Timonen was a healthy scratch on Thursday as the Flyers gave him the night off after he returned from winning a bronze medal in Sochi. Steve Mason had a tough night on Thursday as he gave up four goals on only 16 shots in two periods of play.

PHOENIX

Games this week

vs. Vancouver, vs. Montreal, @ Washington

Rested team: vs. Montreal (Thursday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

Martin Hanzal now has a career high 37 points with five goals and seven assists coming with the man-advantage. Rob Klinkhammer has really struggled of late as he has only four points in his last 28 games after starting the season with seven goals and 14 points in his first 31 games. He did pick up an assist on Thursday. Oliver Ekman-Larsson could not have been happy at being the seventh defenseman for Sweden during the Olympics and potted his ninth goal of the season on Thursday in his first game back in the NHL. Mike Smith won a Gold medal for Canada as their third goalie. He was strong in the Coyotes first game back as he stopped 27 of 29 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss to Winnipeg.

PITTSBURGH

Games this week

@ Nashville, @ San Jose, @ Anaheim

Rested team: None

Tired Team: @ Anaheim (Friday)

Notes

The Penguins play three games in four nights this week so Jeff Zatkoff should get one start for Marc-Andre Fleury. Beau Bennett is out another three-four weeks with a broken hand/wrist. He has played only 12 games this season and has a lot of talent so don't forget about him next season as he should be a top six forward. Paul Martin broke his hand during the Olympics and will be out four-six weeks. The injury will allow Simon Despres to remain with the team on the blueline. Matt Niskanen has taken advantage of injuries to Martin and Kris Letang all season and has been a fantasy force in 2013-14. Letang is not sure he'll be back this season after suffering a stroke last month.

ST. LOUIS

Games this week

vs. Tampa Bay, @ Nashville, @ Colorado, @ Minnesota

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Blues play four times this week including three games in four nights so look for Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott to split the net. Patrik Berglund ended up seeing top six minutes for Sweden with all their injuries up front and that can't hurt him down the stretch. It should be interesting to see if the Blues do anything major at the deadline (could they be interested in Ryan Miller or Martin Brodeur?) as many are pegging them as the best team in the West. Brenden Morrow was not happy with the Olympic break as he was picking up his game as the break occurred. Vladimir Sobotka is still out with a knee injury suffered on January 31 and is not close to returning.

SAN JOSE

Games this week

vs. Carolina, vs. Pittsburgh, vs. Montreal

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Joe Pavelski moved into second place behind only Alex Ovechkin in the goal scoring race with a hat trick on Thursday as he now has 33 goals. Raffi Torres made his seasonal debut on Thursday and scored on his second shift of the game. Logan Couture also returned after missing 16 games with a hand injury that required surgery. He played alongside Patrick Marleau and Martin Havlat. Tomas Hertl has started skating again and while he was not supposed to return this season, you never know. Bracken Kearns was placed on waivers and cleared them as the Sharks needed roster space for the return of Couture and Torres.

TAMPA BAY

Games this week

@ St. Louis, vs. Buffalo, vs. Boston

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

As mentioned earlier, Martin St. Louis asked for a trade to the Rangers. It strikes me as strange as the Lightning have a better record than New York and are getting Steve Stamkos back shortly. The only thing that makes a little bit of sense is that St. Louis was mad at GM Steve Yzerman for keeping him off Team Canada originally and asked for the trade before Stamkos was deemed not healthy enough to go and St. Louis was named as his replacement. Oh, and he scored both goals Thursday in a 3-2 loss to Nashville. Valtteri Filppula is still not healthy enough to return to the lineup but could return this week. Anders Lindback (ankle) was sent to the minors on a conditioning stint.

TORONTO

Games this week

vs. Columbus, @ New York Rangers, vs. Philadelphia

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Dave Bolland (ankle) suffered a setback at practice this past week and while he was able to skate in practice, he was not able to take part in contact drills. Trevor Smith was activated from the injured reserve list as his broken hand has healed. He'll see bottom six minutes. David Clarkson is having a poor year for the Maple Leafs so instead of going away during the break, he stayed home and worked out. Hopefully, a big last quarter of the season and a good playoffs is in the cards for him. James van Riemsdyk had three assists in his first game back from a successful Olympics where he had a goal and six assists in seven games as Phil Kessel's linemate. Kessel tied for the scoring lead with Erik Karlsson as he had five goals and eight points. Kessel has 17 points in his last 10 games.

VANCOUVER

Games this week

@ Phoenix, @ Dallas, vs. Calgary

Rested team: vs. Calgary (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

Ryan Kesler's agent is strongly denying the rumor that Kesler wants out of Vancouver. I guess we'll see on Wednesday. Coach John Tortorella got himself in hot water when he said that he wanted Sweden to win Gold over Canada as his Swedes Daniel Sedin and Alexander Edler were playing more than his Canadians Dan Hamhuis and Roberto Luongo at the Winter Games. Alex Burrows didn't miss a game thanks to the break as he injured his hand during the last game before the Olympics began. Henrik Sedin sat out the Olympic Games because of a rib injury and the rest did him well as he returned to action on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON

Games this week

@ Philadelphia, @ Boston, vs. Phoenix

Rested team: None

Tired Team: @ Boston (Thursday)

Notes

The Capitals play three times in four nights so look for Michal Neuvirth to get at least one start in relief of Braden Holtby.  The Capitals play the Flyers in the second half of a back-to-back series on Wednesday so look for Tom Wilson or Troy Brouwer to drop the gloves if the rough stuff starts. Alex Ovechkin had trouble after the 2010 Olympics keeping pace with his scoring before the Games but if Thursday's game is any indication, he won't have problems this time as he had his league-leading 41st goal and added a pair of assists. Mikhail Grabovski suffered a lower body injury on Thursday, his first game back after missing eight games with an ankle injury. Martin Erat still wants a trade of out Washington.

WINNIPEG

Games this week

vs. New York Islanders, vs. Los Angeles, vs. Ottawa

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Jets are on the bubble as far as trading away or staying in the playoff race as they are only two points out of a playoff spot but Dallas and ninth place Phoenix each have two games in hand. Vancouver is one point ahead of the Jets and both teams have played 61 games.  Mark Stuart does not want to be traded as he believes in the team and the organization. Jim Slater returned on Thursday after being out since October 18 with an injury that required sports hernia surgery. Tobias Enstrom played on Thursday after missing some practices during the Olympic break with a lower body injury.
