We were poking around YouTube when we came across this newly unearthed, odd little fight clip from the 1993-94 season.

Obviously, we’re going to check out Stu “The Grim Reaper” Grimson fighting for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. And he had several bouts against Enrico Ciccone, and they were always interesting.

But we’re sharing this today because it depicts how two different broadcasts dealt with a curious issue: The fight between Grimson and Ciccone happened after the whistle, when the broadcasters thought they were free and clear to cut to commercial.

So what you have here is the raw feed of the fight from two sources. The Washington Capitals radio broadcast being outright hostile that these two had the nerve to fight during an ad break, and the ESPN2 (“The Deuce!”) crew (including Bill Clement) sort of muttering to themselves as the fight happened, and then jokingly offering a review of the action when they got back from break.

That exasperated “aw, c’mon, give it a rest” from Capitals broadcaster Ron Weber was priceless.

Please, more raw feed footage from the 1990s, Mr. and Mrs. YouTube.
