Matthews (hip) was a full participant during Monday's practice and said he's ready to make his return Tuesday against the Knicks, the Oregonian reports. "I felt like I just needed that extra day, that extra time, and it turned out that was the case," Matthews said. "Is (my hip) 100 percent? No. But it’s good enough for me. I feel like I can play like myself and be me. It’s a hell of a test tomorrow against the Knicks, but I’m ready."
Recommendation: Matthews, who has missed six of the Blazers' last nine games due to a strained left hip flexor, looks like he will return to Portland's lineup on New Year's Day. He may need a game or two to shake off some rust, but it shouldn't take him long to get back to being a steady fantasy option.
