Wesley Matthews, Damian Lillard carry Trail Blazers over Wizards

Damian Lillard finished with 23 points and recorded 10 assists and 6 rebounds in a complete performance to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a victory over the Washington Wizards, 116-103. The Trail Blazers shot 41-81 (50.6%) from the field and turned it over on only nine possessions. Portland (45-24) has now won back-to-back games after defeating Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Lillard finished 8-18 (3-8 from three-point range) and 4-5 from the free throw line. Other top performers for Portland were Wesley Matthews with 28 points and 5 assists, Dorell Wright with 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Nicolas Batum with 12 points and 14 rebounds. On 8-18 shooting, including 5-10 from behind the arc, John Wall put up 24 points for Washington in the loss. He also registered 14 assists. Drew Gooden contributed 18 points and 9 rebounds, Trevor Ariza finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Trevor Booker put up 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Trail Blazers paired an eFG% of 59.3% with a TO% of just 9.7%. On the year, when exceeding 55% in eFG% and losing the ball on fewer than 10% of their possessions, they are 1-0. The Wizards, conversely, are 0-1 when their opponents hit those numbers.
