With Week 10 on the horizon, the Atlanta Falcons will travel into enemy territory as they battle the Eagles. Philadelphia is known to have a major home-field advantage, but the Falcons are coming off extended rest and looking to continue their offensive dominance.

Atlanta has a good chance to settle into a nice three game win streak going into their bye, but it would be even more comforting to end this stretch with a 2.5 game lead in the division. The Falcons currently sit 1.5 games ahead of the Saints and 2.5 in front of both the Panthers and Buccaneers.

How can they take advantage of this week’s schedule?

The advantage for the Falcons in their matchup is clear. Although the Eagles have had success this year, an extended week of practice to face a rookie quarterback favors Atlanta in this game. Philadelphia has shown that they are a diverse team and their front seven will look to impact the Atlanta Falcons and their number one offense.

In the rest of the division, there are some tough matchups. The Saints battle the Broncos in New Orleans and while Drew Brees and company have had success against tough teams, this will prove the legitimacy of their team. They recently were able to win a matchup against the Seahawks, but the Broncos also provide tough competition.

The Panthers square off against the red-hot Kansas City Chiefs, who have quietly gone 6-2 so far. The Chiefs get Justin Houston back this week as he will surely wreak havoc on Carolina’s offensive line. Finally, the Bucs face the Bears. The Bears may be at the bottom of the power rankings, but their offense is improving. With Jay Cutler back and Jordan Howard carrying the ball, they have proven capable of beating good teams like Minnesota. Coming off of a week nine bye, they’ll look to drop Tampa Bay to a 3-6 record.

A lot of things have to go right, but it’s very possible for Atlanta to go into their bye with a commanding lead in the NFC South. Consistency is the biggest factor for this team, but matchup advantages can help Atlanta soar and hopefully clinch a playoff berth in the near future.
