Warriors' Ezeli undergoes knee surgery
Golden State Warriors center Festus Ezeli had surgery on Thursday to repair his right knee that was injured during the final game of the regular season, the team announced.
The procedure, which was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles, stabilized the medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligaments that were sprained in the April 17 game against Portland.
The team expects rehabilitation to begin soon. The medical staff estimates Ezeli's recovery time at six to nine months.
Ezeli, 23, averaged 2.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 78 regular-season games in 2012-13. His 41 starts as a rookie were second most in the NBA behind teammate Harrison Barnes' 81. The 6-foot-11 Ezeli also played in 12 playoff games and averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds.
